I've been healed my brotha, by the blessed touch of the orange! Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah?

This is a very, very rough and probably wrong estimate:

standard size of plant cell = 40 microns

1mm = 1000 microns

1000/40 = 25 cells, in 1mm

Assuming radius of Orange = 4cm = 40mm =40,000 microns;

in 40000 microns = 1000 cells.

Volume of sphere = 4/3 pie r 3

4/3 * pie 4 cubed = 268.1 cm cubed

times 10 =2681 mm cubed
2681 times 25 (cells in a mm) = about 67020.6 cells in a 4cm radius orange.

assuming 18 chromosomes in orange times 67020.6 by 18 = 1206371.6 chromosomes.
The haploid number is 18
But the diploid number will be 36, so 1206371.6 times 2 = 2412743.2 chromosomes in an orange.

hope this helps ,lol !!! it seems a bit low to me.
