Europeans

The one thing I found so strange while going around Europe was that there where no European backpackers. I meet one Irish girl in Prague and that was it. I meet some groups but they where only away for the weekend.

I met one or two brits. I think I met a Scot but all the rest where American, Canadian, Australian, about 90% seemed to be Australian and a few Brazilians. No French, Swedish or Germans. Backpackers I mean.

I know Europeans tend to go east or down to Aus but I was surprised since Europe is so easy to get around for a European that we don't take better advantage of it. You even get free medical care and half price meds with the medical insurance card.

This is a big stereotype that I probably shouldn't make but it seems to me that in general, many Europeans tend to make shorter trips since it's so quick and easy to say hop on Ryanair and spend the weekend someplace. So they do that more frequently as opposed to weeks/months/etc. backpacking around.
