being insulted

well before i tell people this story i should say, yes sometimes i am easily insulted.

met this couple from NYC last night, being that is the place of my birth i began a conversation with them, had a little to smoke and was enjoying the evening. there were about five or six others there as well from all over the globe. the conversation was delightful and thought provoking. that was untill the young girl from new york, when she found out i live in north carolina, asked me 'so you have alot of klan members down there?'

why yes we do, they all come over to my house on sunday and play the banjo on my front porch. we fry up some possum and get neked to go to the swimmin hole. do you here my sarcasm. i know people from new york tend to live within there own little world, but they should have the decency to learn a little something about there own country and the people who reside within it.

so, to all the americans on the board, don't be dumbasses. learn something about your own country before you decide to take your stupidity abroad. and if your a new yorker, yes there is intelligent life beyond the five burroughs, but if you think life exist only within them then stay there. and by the way, Sept. 11, was an attack on all of humanity, don't were the event on your fucking sleave like a badge of honor, you were just the last ones to wake up to the violence most of the world lives with on a daily basis, you were blind before and now you think your the only ones who have ever suffereed.

but, this is one of the catch twenty-two's of travelling, i feel safe in criticizing my own people for what ever they do whether it be politics religion whatever, but i would never cross the line and criticize someone who was not from my own culture.

so, i really have no idea why i just wrote all this except for the fact i needed to let out some steam. thanks for the venue too do so.

Next time engage her in conversation, mentally beat her to a pulp with your superior wit and knowledge. Then, when finished, say:

"Dam, y'all, I tought them New Yorker's were s'posed to be smart somptin feirce! Guess you caint beleive ery'thin ya hear these days. Aw well, we can't ALL be smart, let's go get us a coon."

Last place of US residence, Missouri. "Fly-over land" to those on either coast. When they can't keep up mentally with one of these backwoods types, it makes them feel about 3 inches tall. Or 1, if I'm feeling particularly vicious.

If you were from West Virginia, I wouldnt think the KKK comment would be out of line, maybe it is though. Point is, if you are not from, or have travled to that state in question, you will always have a dumb question to ask. To interpret the question for you, she was basically asking if there are a lot of racists down there.

Do a service to your state by educating people about what really goes on down there. The ignorant will stay ignorant if you simply respond with a smart remark. This is the universal way.

It also comes down to the manner in which she asked it. Maybe she really didn´t know, or maybe she just wanted to put you on the spot. Probably the latter, judging by your message.

I guess the best way to respond to a person in a situation like that, is to combine both of the posts before me. Enlighten and educate her on the subject at hand. By sdoing so, you will have intellectually whooped her ass and would have made her feel an inch tall
