Glad to hear Court's doing better & going home!
Sarah, you take care of yourself too!

made it home home safely to alabama and got moved in with grandmother. i love this women and has an epic force of will. She used to be and high bio teacher so trying to argue anything with her is pointless. My reading and writing and writing and less than perfect still and I still don't sleep much. I want to get Sarah's words moved over to stupidhurts but considering how much the internet hurts to use here it could be a bit. Unfortunately my grandmother does not believe in insomnia and has had me on room arrest for a bit now. I am not sure how long this will last.but i needed to get out a long time ago

Loose Ends Tied Up For The Week, Decisions Made.
I’ve been home (the ‘rent’s) for six days. It really isn’t that bad. They have cable and all the major movie channels, enough food, and company. Grant it I’d rather have high speed internet (we have dial up) than cable T.V. any day of the week, but the T.V. is great for keeping your mind off of things and not getting depressed. Works wonders.
This can definitely go down as a shitty week. It seems like all I’ve been doing this week is running around trying to make all the pieces fall in place. I have to clean and organize my stuff at my parent’s, try to sell some stuff, see friends, buy this, fix that. Once I cross one thing off my list something else pops up that needs to be put on the list. Never ending. But at least I’m busy.
Earlier this week I had to make a big decision: Birmingham or California. Well I made it. And surprising to many I’ve chosen Oklahoma. It was the best compromise I could find. Courtland is moving with his mother into his grandmother’s house so he can have around the clock care. Right now he needs someone to watch him. His moods and manic attacks/hallucinations can come and go so quickly. Plus it is a good thing for him to try to build a strong foundation with his family. Something I had been nudging for him to do for awhile. This is a great time for him to learn to throw off grudges and to accept that being dependent on someone else isn’t always bad. I’ve always told him that family and friends should come first.
With him moving into his grandmother’s house this leaves me in a predicament. I can’t move in with them and I am not financially stable enough to get an apartment and all the deposits that come with it. That being said nor do I want to move all the way to the other coast. I feel 33 plus hours would be too far.
So I’ve decided to stay in Oklahoma. That way I am only 9 hours away and can visit him and still be around in case something happens. As much as I would love to be there with him I know that more than anything he needs his family. And truthfully I have no rights to him. I’m just a girlfriend. I could move down there and then be told that my time with him is limited. These next few months Courtland is going to be treated like a kid in some ways.
This really has been a hell of a decision and for awhile I thought I was going to go crazy with deciding where to go. But I think Oklahoma is the best choice and a good compromise. I am going to stay with my parent’s which will keep the bills to a low minimum and hopefully find work in Cushing. I’m 45 minutes from two of my best friends and 45 minutes in the other direction from my other best friend and good friends. I have a support system here. And I’m going to need it.
I haven’t lived at home since my senior year in high school when I moved out. I don’t know if I’ve grown up or if they have taken a chill pill (probably both!), but it really isn’t too bad. They don’t yell at me and I help out around the house. Hopefully if Courtland is on the track to getting better in a few months then I will head out to Birmingham and get my own place.
Besides that there isn’t much else to talk about. I still have a ton of mail to respond to but the only time I have to get online is when I come to Stillwater, so it will be a slow process if I owe you an email. I should also be getting my phone turned on soon. And if you are a Stillwater/ Tulsa/ OKC friend drop me a line and we can hang out.
My goal while I whittle my time away here (besides working a lot) is to see everyone in Oklahoma before I leave (because damn it I will be leaving this states sometime!!), tie up all my loose ends, work on my crochet and sell some of it, work on my photography, clean and organize my mother’s house, and support Courtland getting better. And hopefully after he is well there will be some well deserved major traveling!

PL, I think you made a very wise choice by letting his family take the reigns.
Any updates?

Gah - I've been MIA for a while and didn't even know about this.
Glad to see your spirits have been up enough to pose for a "Jake," Court - but sorry to hear that using the internet hurts! Now that's a damn shame
Much love to my fellow cyclist...

recent update
hey guys.
So Court's been home almost two weeks. His initial dr.'s appt. wasn't going to happen till August 1st. But the last few days he's been throwing up and has had a fever. So they took him to the ER and now he is in a great hospital that deals with seizures. They are re-testing him all over again and taking him off his meds so they can start from scratch. Let's hope they find something!
Anyway I talk to his grandmother/mother every day so I'll try to keep you all updated. I wish I could visit the boards but I have to come into town to use regular internet... dial up is killing me!
