I usually write, listen to music, and basically just watch the world of other people traveling around me. I love people watching while in transit. Its very funny at times to kind of keep check on someone and see all the things they do over say a 6-10 hour trip. On our last trip, we took 22 flights, 2 ferrys and 6 trains. Sooooo much time and opportunity to just observe people from all over the world. My favorites are some of the larger international airports in EU with flights connecting to all of the continents. Soooo many different cultural aspects and personalities coming out. Good stuff

when flying I usually down a few JD's and sleep! laike many, after backpacking I'm a skilled sleeper

If I can stay awake I'd usually just stare out the window a while and zone out. Good start to a holiday!

I do all of the above: Sleep (when I can), daydream, look out the window, read, PEOPLE watch, watch an inflight movie, talk to a cool person. Basically anything I can do to make it a fun trip.

yes its true about batteries - not oly craptops but phones/rechargables/camera battereis etc thats why theres always some sort of visual indicator to tell you wshen its finished charging

as for what i do when in transit, well i spend A LOT of time in transit...most weekends in the UK i travel to a different city which sometimes means up to 10 hours a weekend JUST travelling to and from london...then add up time on the tube getting to uni/work and its a lot of time. and i travel yearly to asia...and travel around on bus here...for 2 days straight. im not too sure what i do - half the time, i listen to tunes, sing along, pretend im in a music video, watch films, play tetris, read magazines etc.

but the other half i go into this trance state and pick my brain and sort it out, almost like running a brain defrag. it kills time but its a pretty weird state to get into 38,000 feet above the air when your a height fearing claustrophobic control freak, especially when you come out of it and realise your on a plane. poeple think im crazy spending so much time in transit but it really does not bother me at all - its just the time i need to sort my head out and meditate.

This is what I do... in order:

1. Find out if the person beside me is interesting, and if so, talk. If its a pretty girl, I'll probably talk to her even if she's boring.

2. Play my PSP

3. Listen to Louis Armstrong on my Mp3 and SLEEP

4. Read either schoolwork or a few pages from the Tolstoy book that I travel with, get bored, and SLEEP

I tend to people watch as well, then listen to music and thats about it cas I get sick if I try to read or sleep unless i'm on a plane then its not so bad and I can read for a bit and I think I could proberly sleep, never been on a long enough plane ride yet!
