so ive got about 3 weeks of unplanned itinerary, tell me 4 out of moscow, st. petersburg, prague, budapest, warsaw, bucharest, copenhagen, vienna, istanbul, athens or any other places east of germany that you recommend. ill be flying out of riga, latvia, so i can fly direct to all of these places on airbaltic, its really just a question of where and for how long. thanks for your input, and please tell me if i should not go somewhere.

Not to confuse you any further but if I were you, and up near Riga and St Petersburg, I would check out Tallinn. I was there last summer and thought it was really awesome.

Unless you go thru Germany Copenhagen is a little further.

Maybe try to draw up a circle and see which cities fit along a nice line...

Well if you're going to be there a month I'm sure you'll pick up on the insider places soon enough.

Obviously there's the Hell Hunt which is sweet. One of the cheaper places in town. Then there is this place near the HH that doesnt get crowded until about 3/4 am. I dont know the name. I know that if you walk out the front of the Hell Hunt and make right, then a quick left down down another street and down a slight hill, it'll be on your right. A downward staircase leads into it. Its really cool though once you're in there.

those were the worst directions ever. sorry.

I think I would go with Vienna, Budapest, Moscow & St Petersburg... it would probably depend on which season you're going in, though! I love Prague & Warsaw as well, but one of the things I loved most about Warsaw was the big parks and the bars in the middle, so it's more of a summer place to me... Same with Budapest actually. Prague & Vienna I have been to in both summer & winter, and loved them both... Moscow & St Petersburg I have only been to in Winter, but it was amazing. you gotta go to Russia!

I'd opt for Vilnius (you cannot pass it up. Close to Riga, but very different.), Gdansk, Krakow and Budapest. Or Bratislava, that's neat too. Vilnius, Krakow and Budapest, a week each if you can spare it, Gdansk or Bratislava a minimum of 3-4 days, more for Gdansk if you can manage it - you can go to some of the other towns in the area if you don't love it as much as I do. Bratislava is relatively small.
