Just wonderin'....
What made you peoples choose the name you did (for travelpunk)? Some are pretty obvious...cali_girl, CD, TP, peenkfloeed, etc....others pay tribute to the title of this thread (my retro career, pinion, Somnambulation, etc.)
Like I said, just wonderin'

I always use this name when I sign on to other websites or message boards. Silverchair named their fourth album "Diorama". According to the dictionary this is what it means:
Quote:
: a scenic representation in which a partly translucent painting is seen from a distance through an opening
|
Kinda like a world within a world. And everchanging environment. Trust me I explain the meaning better in person.

Lindoro was the name of the first lead role I ever sang in an opera. In the Barber of Seville, the handsome count Almaviva goes under the name "Lindoro" to make sure the woman he loves feels the same because of who he is, not because of all that he has.
She does.

Carisia, hmmm, I made it up. It comes from the portuguese term, 'carinho,' which means 'affection,' or 'tenderness.' And then I just combined it w/ a personal, poetic flair, like 'freesia,' and came up w/ Carisia, I like the fact that it has a latin flair to it b/c of my latin background too.

Unlike the sophisticated Carisia,
my name doesn't have any special meaning at all...
While surfing TravelPunk for the first time, I was listening to a song by the Faint, and its title was"Your retro career melted". I kinda liked it; so at that spur of the moment I named myself (somewhat) after that tune.
Boring me...

"clevercraig" is my screen name for Yahoo's game literati (It's basically on line scrabble).....It is meant to intimidate my opponents into crushing doubt and fear....My record is not so good. Thus I am more likely to be percieved as an ass. I do however like the sound of it, so clevercraig it is. (go 'cuse!)

I was originally going to go with "space prostitute" but I have a friend who is part of a Burning Man collective called the Space Virgins, and if I ever end up going I'll go with her group, so... voila.
Although space prostitute would have been good too.

what's in a name? retro, my bedroom has been referred to as the red light district...it's painted red, with red bedding, and a red lamp and when the sun starts shining through the red curtains the whole room looks like it's on fire and I can't help but to dream in red....

I was in a bar in a casino in Auckland (Sky City Casino) and there were several bper's from oz as well. I had been drunk for about 3 weeks because my world tour was about to end. We started talking about DUI's in the states and how you cannot ride in a car with a beer. That night (3 years ago) I was given the nickname TUI (pronounced tuey) for "traveling under the influence". My brother was with me and stuck with calling me that for the last 3 years. My real name is Eric, but outside of work I go by TUI a lot, sounds cheesy I know, but its fun .

Bright Eyes is cool. I'm not particularly into one kind of scene for very long; it changes often.
Lately I'm listening to Smog, Wire & Mascott; all three with very different sound.

My name is Kally, and there are a LOT of different nicknames that can be derived from that... I have been called Kalifornia, Kalidonia, Kalamazoo, Kaliente... You get the picture.
But there was a guy I was seeing (although that is a very strong term for it...) And he once said I was a ".45 Kalliber booty rocket."
And he started calling me that...
And a lot of other people started calling me that without knowing why...
So...
Now the secret's out...

Burning Man
Huge (30k + people) hedonistic festival in the desert in Nevada the week before Labor day. It's all about art and sorta hard to explain. There are a lot of burning man goers in Seattle & the NW area. Pretty intense though.

My name... hmmm.. well I was signing up for AOL one day many years ago, and needed a screen name and in a spat of creativity and hitting the keyboard... I came up with Sijuki. It's unique, and well apparantly not unique, there is another Sijuki in the world... they are from Germany. I am not sure who had the name first. I like to think I did, I know of no meaning for it, but I liked it and it seemed to flow. Although I get a lot of complaints that people expect me to be oriental. Which, I am not. But it is my name for anything and everything.
Actually one day my mother did a google search for Sijuki and came up with a few interesting things from my past. It was weird. But I am Rob outside of the internet world.

DreamsinRed: My bedroom was painted red for a day...bright red. It is panelled, soooo when I opened the curtains and took an all out gander at the thing I decided I wasn't living in a barn. My kiddie bedroom used to be pink and red and I loved it. No barn look at all. Now my rooms dark evergreenish and sandy yellow. It's dark down there though. I'm one of those freaks who can't sleep if there's any light at all.
Cripes Kally...thats nuts. People can't settle with 'Kally' or sumthin? I'm Kelly....people call me Kelly...and Kel...aaaaand.......yea that's about it.
Columbia...huh. I thought it was all original when I came up with it, but now I see it everywhere...every company is Columbia something..music, outdoorwear, movie stuff...I took it from Rocky Horror, though. Hell, she loved Meatloaf; how can I not love her?
