Heh. "Effective results" pertaining to insurance companies??
I wondered maybe if your disdain for non-Western medicine was because of personal experience. And yeah, it's totally understandable that you'd want to do some research before giving your money away.
But here's the problem with "research", as we generally define it for ourselves: It doesn't matter what subject you're looking into, you're always going to find information that is contradictory at best and downright suspicious at worst. It's like chemotherapy-- it may "cure" one person's cancer, but it may make someone else deathly ill.
As far as I'm concerned, I
don't think that something like acupuncture is for everyone. Not only that, but my personal experiences have been for light "problems" such as tension and general malaise rather than a specific, serious health concern. Obviously practitioners are going to vary. In my friend's case, well, she has a light touch and she's good at what she does.
It's all about gray areas and persona choice, man. You're not going to convince someone else (or me) that "it's all in my head", just as we're not going to convince you that there might be the smallest sliver of value in it.
