I'm pissed. My mother told me the other day that if I don't finish my Eagle scout that she won't help me financially for my European trip. I need to get my Eagle Scout by April, but I don't feel any motivation from anyone around me really. Trying to go to school, working 30 hours a week and being in scouts and youth group, I feel worn out. I have to get going on this or what I've been planning for the last three years will be gone.

Boy Scouts of America. Boys from age 11-18 basically go camping a lot and stuff. Wear the khaki uniform with green pants and a kneckerchief. Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Boy Scouts, only 2% of all Scouts get there. Well, I'm aiming for the two percent. I've been working on it for 7 years...sadly.

Dude - I say just do what it takes - the Eagle Scout is a very honorable thing to achieve. One of my brothers got it.

Eagle Scout is the highest level of Boy Scouts - and is quite an acheivement as there is a lot to do to get it!

Well, I know I get a shit load of money in Senior announcements and even a bigger load if I get Eagle Scout. It will help fund my trip. Tomorrow at work I'm going to do a shit load of work on my project. I still have a few requirements to finish for my last Eagle Required merit badge. I wish I were camping in Europe, instead we have Hotels.

Red face

I also got Eagle Scout - to satisfy my mom. Doesn't amount to much in the real world, though.

However, the lesson here is that you gotta work for your goals - and in this case Eagle is a means to your end of funds for a trip. She (or your dad) worked hard for that money, and so it's not unfair that she makes you work for it too.

When you start paying other peoples' bills one day, you will start feeling like a parent too making sure they aren't just pissing it away... And also feeling more gratitude towards those who had ever paid yours.

Yeah, I understand. I'm really going to work at it and hopefully conclude it by April. The weather is so nice here, want to get it done before summer.

You only have one semester left then your free! Think of it 4-5 months of stress and working your butt off gives you the trip of a lifetime. Work out all the details left to get Eagle and make it fit within reason.

Only the top 2% make eagle scout? Damn, almost everyone I know that was in scouts became an eagle scout.

But I agree, just do what you have to do. It will create a lot of pride when you accomplish your goal and reach your reward. This will help instill the ethic you will need to work hard to reach the goals you set forth. Honest, I sometimes wish I had more of that. I am usually just a lazy ass. Things interest me in peaks and then are put on back burner under some sort of lazy ass rationale that they aren't attainable in short term means.

But regardless, you will definitely enjoy your trip once you become an eagle scout and your mum is happy and gives you all sorts of embarrassing kisses and such.
