Crap, that is cold!! It makes the 4c in the UK sound really tropical, but it sure as hell doesnt feel like when your rowing in the pissing rain! Do you actaully go outside in the winter then, or is it just brief dashes to and from the car?

Actually, I am quite used to it, my job entails me to be outside most of the day, I wear 3 layers of cloths, boots that are good to -60C, wool socks, thick gloves, and a neoprean face mask...needless to say it takes me 20 minutes to get ready to go out in this she-ite...

I'm with you, CD. I work outside, too.
The coldest day I can remember in 12 years of working for the airline was (believe it or not) -75 F wind chill. Now THAT was some serious pain. We had to drive across the airport to go out to the remote area where we parked an overnight aircraft. Of course, we had to drive in an open vehicle with no windscreen or roof. By the time we got there, we were all screaming.
That day, I made it a point to have one of my crew inside warming up at all times. I'd send one in, tell him to come back out in about 10 minutes, then he would relieve one of the other guys, who would go in, and so on, throughout the flight.
And what's making this cold worse, today, is I spent the weekend visiting a buddy down in South Carolina. When I left on Sunday, it was 60 F.

Yeah I feel sorry for my neighbors to the east... it was pretty cold for a couple days here, but it has since warmed back up to the 30'sºF or 0ºC. So I am grateful for what I have, and am not complaining like the other people around here, because I know what we could be having.

Wow, talk about weird...
The first thing I do after shutting off my alarm in the morning is telephone a "time and temperature" number here, locally. Today, the weatherman said that it was exactly 10 years ago that we had that glorious -75 F wind chill day (-22 F without wind) I was talking about.
My fingers hurt just thinking about it...
