Well its about to happen. Monday is settlement day for the sale of my house. I'll no longer have a house of my own and have to move back in with my mum for 2 months until I go on my trip!!! I'm already debating with myself if this was a good idea or not.
OK, I'll have plenty of cash and am looking forward to the trip but I lose my own space and i must say I'm really not looking forward to the move. It makes everything seem so real for the first time and I think I'm actually nervous about my trip even though its still 2 months away.
I'm still definately going on the trip but the thought of crashing at my Mum's for the 2 months really is making me cringe. Well the ball is in motion and its gonna happen regardless so i guess i just ride with it. I know once I start the trip it'll all be sweet but I am in 2 minds at the moment.
Oh and I lose my broadband net access and have to go back to dial-up
PS - Sorry for the ramble guys, I've had a couple of brews

Hey buddy! After I came back from Spain in April, I crashed with my folks for 5-6 months before finally moving back to my apt in LA. Whew! It's good to be back home in my own domain!
Really, it depends on your relationship with your mom. I love my folks dearly, but my mom thinks waaaaay too old school and I'm all bout being creative and take lots of risks. We butt head all the time, but it's all in love. Mom's will be mom's
If you have your own privacy you'll be fine. These next two months are going to fly! So you'll be preoccupied getting ready for your trip, working, etc... If you're not busy, then find ways to keep yourself busy so the time goes by quicker What are your alternatives anyways? Can't get an apartment for only 2 months, can you? I'd bite the bullet and stay with mom...that's my 50cent :greenguy: .
Congrats on selling your pad! Heck, all you need to have a great time on your trip is money, time, and an outgoing adventurist personality. And, after that phat check hits your bank account, you'll have all three B) !
Have a brew for me, chief !

Hey cliffo now you can;t bring any chicks home.
Nah seriously though. It's only 2 months. Think about how quickly that will past. i mean halloween was two months ago already. And if your reaaaaaallllly lucky your mom might even cook you some meals and do some of your laundry, just like the good ol' days. Though don't turn into a mamma's boy!
congrats cliffo

TP, I get on fine with my mum its just that she's....well a mum She lives in a smallish 2 bedroom place so theres like no space to get away from her when I need to. I'll probably hang out at friends houses a lot more I think.
Still, I'm working on shortening the time I'm there. I'm gonna finish up at work at the end of January, then head to my mates place for a week up near the Queensland border in a little country town. Been meaning to get up there for 2 years so nows a good opportunity.
Plus the girl I'm seeing at the moment wants to take off to the Gold Coast for a week in the middle of Feb. So really I guess its only like 6 weeks of living there. If you did it for 6 months TP, I'll tough it out for that short amount of time without complaining about it..hehe
Dio, about my mum doing my laundry - she does it anyway. I know, I know its pretty lame but she says she enjoys it as she finds it theraputic (yes, she has issues ). Hell, she even does my sister's and her husband's laundry too and they are older than me.
I reckon it'll take longer than 2 months to turn me into a mamas boy...at least I hope so

Cliffo, My Wife and I are going through the same thing right now. As I have mentioned, we have sold our house and close on March 18, we are not scheduled to move into the new house until June 25, and guess where we are going??? YUP you guessed it Moms house!!! I don't mind it too much, meals all the time, laundry done, and she tends to baby me a bit, and yes i will admit I am a Momma's boy, My wife on the other hand is not so keen on the idea, here in this house I do the laundry, I clean the dishes, and I cook most of our meals...Sacrifices have to be made for the bigger goal
There are some pro's and con's of the situation, the biggest pro is not having to pay for rent until we move into a new place, which could hit as high as 900-1000 a month, It gives us an opertunity to save a wicked chuck of $$$ to put down on the new house upon closing. And I am back with friends that I do miss dearly in my old neighbourhood ( I used to own this house with my ma )
The cons, is that its small, Its a little further to work for me in the city, and my wife should start to freak out after a couple days of my mom being spoiling me...
The $$$$ factor is to great, we must do it...My friend, I would not worry about the 2 months, enjoy the time you have with your mum, cause as every day we get oldere, the days go by faster, it will feel like no time at all.
Keep a positive outlook!!!

Woo Hoo..I'm back online, albeit on a dial up connection.
Well I've moved back in with my mum and i guess it hasn't been too bad. She's kinda giving me some space which I didn't think she would. I think i'll manage to survive although the first night here was depressing
Still waiting for my cheque from the house sale to clear but that should happen monday, then its off to book my flight, order my rail pass and buy the bits and pieces I need....not too long to go now
