So, having just unwrapped everything, I was delighted to have gotten some travel related gear! Anyone else? I got an REI Gift certificate, and used it to buy the Lowa Renegade Men's-- Mmmmm, sweet hiking boots. I think I'll use my few remaining weeks at work to break them in a little.

Also got "The Collected Traveler Paris," which looks like a fun resource. My girlfriend even wrapped my present in a world map.

What about anyone else? Anything nice under your tree that is germaine to discussion here?

Yeah just got half my prezzies..still got half to go (divorced parents) But so far I got a few travelling related presents. My mom got me a swiss army knife, a watch that has two facings so it can show two time zones, and a road atlas of australia. My mom also bought me some nice maps, with the idea that oneday when i have my own place i'll frame some of them and have a 'map room' and showcase my travels. aaah my i love my mom. She knows me too good. I'm a map geek. When i was a little kid i actually asked (and received) for an atlas for christmas. haha.

im in Bolivia right now so i got nothin for christmas. but me and some guys went to this posh hotel on christmas eve and ate the biggist turkey dinner ever. food has never tasted soo good. we were stuffing food into bags and everything. no shame. well early christmas morning i paid for eating way too much. i was puking and heaving at 6 in the morn. way to kick off christmas day. anyway the rest of the day was spent poolside, tanning and such.

I got a really cool looking, lightweight, waterproof jacket (my current one was getting a little worn). One of these is always in my travel essentials when I go abroad. Anyway, this one is this suede like material that repels water. Hmm...maybe I should go hunting for a hat to match, as my previous "travel hat" accidentally got left behind in Bali!

Cool! Sounds like everryone got some great stuff! I was really hoping I would get a world phone, a GPS, or a Eurail pass, but I guess I'll have to figure those out myself.

I want a swiss army knife too, but I'm going to wait and get mine in Switzerland.

I got whool socks that are way too large for me (size 11!)...They are comfortable though. And I got a citrus juicer and a box to put my CDs...Oh and my dad all gave us a small thing to inflate our car tires, a compressor, it's the first year he actually bought us something and it felt weird! He all gave it to us still in the Canadian Tire's plastic bag! Hahahahah! He didn't buy anything for my mom though, and it's just as well...Nothing related to travels, but I guess my family just don't know how I feel about travelling! Hahah! Maybe I should tell them sometime...

Yeah, my family knows me too well....all they gave me was travel stuff...its awesome though....

I got:

-half of Eagle Creek New World Explorer backpack (i paid the other half...that shit is expensive but well worth it).......

-A mini Mag-lite (for finding my way into the hostel dorms late at night)

-A pair of cargo pants that, get this, fold into the rear pocket and zip up for wasy storage...does that make sense?

-a fold up cup (weird but handy)

-a small travel bag PACKED with every single medical/hygeine related thing a well-traveled nurse (my step mom) could think of...its awesome...

I SCORED!!!

Seriously, Adam, you DID score!

Do you have the info on the pants? That sounds just like the kind of thing I'm looking for!!!

I just gave myself a Christmas Present today, and booked 10 days of diving off the Coast of Croatia in June while in the midst of my trip. Yeah!

Adam you were lucky!!! I have pants that fold in the rear pocket, but they actually use more place this way...My rain pants do the same, and it's pretty useful...Viva Stow pockets!!!

I got the following things:

My pack (Went half’s with my mum):

A couple of packing cells:

Travel money pouch:

Drink bottle:

And a Leatherman:

The camping/travel store in Auckland was having a HUGE x-mas/NYE sale and things were 30-50 % off! Made me happy.

I think I might get a good waterproof/windproof jacket while they are still on sale.
