I think people just really don't like clothes in Seattle.* First the faux camo jacket....now this.* Maybe everyone should be naked there!

For the record, the camo jacket incident happened in Vancouver, BC.

Seriously, though - this comment is just as misguided. Don't paint all people or companies with the same brush. Go take a look at how much money Bill Gates hs given away to charity, for example. Is it pocket change to him, yes - but he doesn't have to do it. Yes, there are a lot of greedy people in the world, but not all business people are greedy, selfish pricks and not all corporations are out to screw everyone else. Judge each person or company on their individual merits, not based on some prejudicial ideology.

Thank you sir, for pointing that out.

Well, you all know how I feel about hippies: I hope you choke on granola, Anthon!

I kid, I kid...

I find it amusing how making a comment like the suit did ironically points out his own ignorance. In fact, I find all situations like that pretty amusing.

I was on a plane in Australia, and next to me was a stereotypical lard-ass couple from Houston who'd been living on the Gold Coast for over 20 years. When I told them I was from San Francisco, the husband asked "How do you put up with all the commies around there?" I had to try my hardest not to laugh.

I think that's a really narrow minded point of view, but we are all allowed our own perspectives. I guess living in Chicago I see "suits" in many forms. Perhaps having my husband work in the corporate world lets me see these people as humans and not stereotypes. Everyone hates to be pigeonholed!

I agree.

"Hippies, hippies... they want to save the world but all they do is smoke pot and play frisbee!" - Eric Cartman, "Southpark"

I love the hippy ethos - but it's wrong to polarize the world into shaggys and suits. Fact is, a lot of the greatest environmentalists are scientists working on greener technology. For example, I just heard a story on a 30-yo entrepreneur, Andrew Perlman, on NPR this morning who is working on a clean form of coal gasification that could help wean us off pricey oil.

Now, he doesn't look like your textbook hippy, but how many frisbee-playing hippies are doing that?

He was just probably coming down off a rough caffeine high from hanging out at Starbucks... anyone can be irrational after that.

My dad's about the most conservative "suit" I can imagine, yet for the past 15 years he's been busy working to create Marine Protected Areas in Canada, to help repair the damage caused by overfishing, both commercial and recreational. His partner in all of this is a scientist who fits much more the "hippy" mold. Thing is, until industries get involved in saving the planet, it ain't gonna happen, and sometimes it takes one suit to convince others to get involved.

I guess what I'm saying is, don't judge any man by the clothes on his back.
