Hope nobody was affected by this Category 5 Storm.

I feel so sad. The town I lived in for two months has been devasted by it. I lived in Innisfail a year and a half ago working on the banana farms. Almost ever farm has been destroyed and this is the main economy in town. Nearly every building has been damaged with every 2nd or 3rd roof ripped off. As much as I laughed about living in Banana town Innisfail, I must say I have a soft spot for it. It was felt all the way from Townsville to Cairns. Hopefully t'punkers are fine and were not in the area!

Yeah, I spent the last couple of days going through the various photos on BBC & such, and recognized some of the places in Cairns they were showing.

While northern QLD is nowhere nearly as densely populated as the Gulf Coast where Katrina hit, the economic effect on all the agriculture will probably be paaaainful and put the locals through other hardships.

Mother Nature's a bitch sometimes...
