I have a question, I heard that it is a really good deal to rent an apartment in Rio de Janeiro rather than getting a hotel. does anyone know some information on this, that can help me out. thanks :taz:

yeah, I heard that too! I used to work with a guy that went to Rio 3 times in 2 years, and he told me that him and his buddies would rent an apartment for 7-10 days near or at the Copacana for something really cheap.

It's been a couple of years since I've worked with him so my recollection of his tips are super fuzzy at the moment, but I think that he said some guy approached them on the strip there (Copacabana), and they took a look at the place (something like a top unit in a small apartment building), worked out the details, gave a deposit or paid in full (can't remember) and were given the keys. Later, he hooked up with the same apt on a later trip.
