Me and my mates were counting up the number of pubs and clubs we have here in my home town. We reached a total of 24. Now that might not sound like many, but the town i live in only has 30,000 people. That's one pub for every 1250 people.....that seems like a lot. So, to satisfy my curiosity, what's the pub to people ratio in your town?? Do i live in a town of alcoholics?? :wine: :guinesssmilie:  :blink2:

I understand this is pretty much impossible for those that live in cities.

juliagulia 01-24-2006 06:21 PM

i live in savage. we have like.....100 people. bit of an exxageration but hey. only one i can think of is rams head tavern and thats a restaurant....

so thats one "pub" for 100 people and neighboring columbums since columbia has NO nightlife (and exciting time for two 18 year olds is to go to the movies or the new cheesecake factory... if theyre really adventurous theyll go to college park or towson or something). so the bored columbians probably sneak off there to get some excitement in their lives. either that or they'll go to a local kkk meeting in the savage woods  :hunter:

i think through this post you now understand why i MUST leave howard county pronto.

LostFarmboy 01-24-2006 06:30 PM

no no no, restaurants that sell alcohol don't count, that's not a pub.

juliagulia 01-24-2006 06:31 PM

then that makes it 0:300-500+

gosh howard county is pathetic :crybaby:

omisan 01-24-2006 06:59 PM

Hrmm.. I live in a town of 770,000, so I don't think I can even start to count how many bars, pubs and clubs there are. Considering San Francisco's the city with the most restaurants per capita, I can imagine it ranks pretty high up there considering there's a bar next to and across the street from every freakin' restaurant!

chelseafc05 01-24-2006 07:05 PM

i live in a town with a population of about 2000 take or give and there are 3 pubs

space virgin 01-24-2006 07:31 PM

Um... lots. Somewhat comparable to San Francisco, probably one or two less per capita. Beyond that I have no idea. :)

MeTurk 01-25-2006 06:19 AM

:lol1:

Pfft I say Pft!

We have a population of about 1500 and we have 8 pubs and one nightclub. They'll be building another nightclub soon. That's what? one pub to every 187 people?

The weird thing is the population has doubled in the past year and pubs have actually shut down 5 years ago we had 18 pubs and two nightclubs.

agriadam 01-25-2006 09:39 AM

hmm I live in a town of 781,870 So I can't really count either

Julia, my dear, there are plenty of Pubs and Bars around the Columbia area.

Going down Snowden, there's the chain joints, but there's also Columbia Ale House. And Nottinghams, and Sonoma's, and Rocky Run.

There's also a ton of roadhouses down Rt. 1 from where you are.

There's Clyde's near the Mall, etc etc.

Where I live, there are three within a short walk. Each is a bit of a redneckin' joint, but in the middle of the evening when I need beer, I can get a sixer to go...

And then there's Baltimore. Hell, in Federal Hill alone there's about 15-20, same for Canton, and Fel's Point. Then there's the Powerplant complex which has 6 or so shake yer arse clubs...

Its just because you're young, kiddo... you haven't found a watering hole yet :D

blinkchick2134 01-25-2006 11:02 AM

I live in Newark, about 5 minutes from University of Delaware campus. There's about 5 on Main Street and 15ish around the town.

Rozza 01-25-2006 11:56 AM

ok, in Ramsey theres 6 pubs, one bar and one club

Diorama 01-25-2006 01:09 PM

I have no freakin clue. But I bet that I've been to a high percentage ofthem! I was in the town of Dingle, Ireland and they only have 1500 residents , but they have 56 pubs!! Also was in the town of Kilcar, Ireland . Population is approx 150 and they had 5 pubs. Haha I love it!

 Okay okay maybe I was stretching the truth a BIT when I said Columbia had nothing... BUT Rocky Run is a restaurant! HA! :D

But now I'm wondering... If you're looking at Savage... there really is nothing. Seriously. :blink2:

Rozza 01-25-2006 03:51 PM

Julia! you shouldn't be visiting pubs and bars at your age, never mind drinking! :rulz: :nono: what would your mother say?

I live in Chi Town, so there's really not point in counting, but my original hometown of about 200 people had 2 bars, 1 strip club and supper club with bar.

omisan 01-26-2006 09:43 AM

I read somewhere that my home town, Sunnyvale, has the 2nd most strip clubs per capita in the US, after Honolulu.

Let's see, in Golden there are:

The Ace Hi Tavern - craphole, no one goes to
Rock Rest - Not too bad
Blue Canyon bar and grill - nice but can be spendy
Buffaloe Rose - see above comment about the ace hi
Coors lab/short tour - 3 free beers per day? I go just about everyday.

and that's about it. There are tons in downtown Denver

DID YOU SEE FUNGI!!!

apc811 02-03-2006 12:57 AM

I live in Galveston Tx.,

the theme behind this place is to drink and die (leaving las vegas). On my street I have 4 bars, 1 funeral home, 3 convenience stores. Its a bad place to be. Were going to have the biggest Mardi Gras in America this year. I dont know what the racio of bars to funeral homes is down here but I swear its got to be huge. What I call my town of Galveston is the Assshole of Texas.... because so much shit seemes to flow out of here.

he je je Im trashed while i POST THIS

I'm from a quiet little town that doesn't allow alcohol sales on Sunday still. I can think of 2 or 3 businesses that are primarily pubs (they still do sell food, of course). The number is 4 or 5 at night. Two pretty much stop selling food and just the bars are open. That's for 35,000 people.

Of course now I live in East Lansing, home of Michigan State University. I cannot count how many pubs are in the area. I know it's +127, for somewhere around 100,000 people (including close areas of Lansing).

goyincognito 02-04-2006 04:58 AM

Eh...where I'm living (a suburb of Tel Aviv) there's a district like a 2 minute walk from my pad with a shitload of pubs and nightclubs all stacked together...a lot of them are hidden off the beaten path too since it's all in the former industrial district and a lot of clubs consist of just a small sign with a tiny front door, but a huge interior.

I haven't been able to even find all of them to count :ninja: Plus there's a marina and a shitload of beachfront bars on top of that...

I'd estimate probably about 30 or more though...and this section of town is probably 20,000 people.
