Hi everyone,

Well, the bag's all packed, and I leave this evening for Bali, all flights going well. Winter's early arrival here in Columbus is going to make this feel good. I think this will be a more relaxed trip than my usual, driven "go, go, go!"

I'll tell you all about when I return...and who knows? Maybe I'll hit an internet cafe and check up on you guys while I'm over there...

Hey Mike, Ive been playing in a Balinese Gamelan at my college in Mass. Ive been playing under Desak Laksmi, one of the premire musicians of Bali...

How long are you going to be there? I know she is going back for Christmas break, maybe you might want to go see some performances and what not? Let me know

Hi everyone!

I'm here in Ubud, Bali, at an internet cafe, sipping an ice tea. I know, I know...how weak! Thanks for all the well-wishes!!

Hey LTG, I'll be here till Dec. 11, so let me know if your teacher will be back by then. I am going to a Fire & Trance Dance performance tonite (I think that is what it is called), so I'll likely hear some gamelan playing then. That is cool you're learning to play it. Has a cool, exotic sound...

I'll probably check in again sometime, internet cafes are thick as rice paddies around here...

Sorry Mike, she isnt returning until the 20th, but you should really enjoy that performance.

Its really unlike any music I have ever played, forced me to "unlearn" alot of the methods, technique, and basics I had learned to just make subconcious from western music.

Im very jealous though! Please tell me how the performance went!
