I work in Finance. One month ago we were moved into newly built buildings. The Air Force bought about 60 palm trees to make the place look nice, and yes it does look nice. But each palm tree cost a little over $30 grand which amounted to around $1.8 million. What are your thoughts on this ole chaps?

Hey, Matador! Good to see you again! Gosh, it's been so long... we thought you'd left us, dude. Weird that you had to change your name though. And strange that you're back again. But great to see you around, we could always use someone for sport!!!! Yay!!

I could give a shit, but I won't. I suggest your trolling would be put to better use elsewhere.

If I had my way I would have bought the same number of ferns instead and then smoked the extra hundred dollar bills just to see what they taste like. With the extra thousands you could hire Dave Mathews Band and have a C-note smoking party.....
Am I wrong?

Let me guess, the palm trees were supplied by the landscaping arm of Halliburton?
And the funny thing is that even after knowing this, you're still gonna vote Republican, eh travelguy?

Its hard to base an opinion solely on numbers. 1.8 million is alot but that numebr alone doesnt mean anything without the entire story.

Palm trees are very pretty (note the avatar ) but 1.8 million seems like a lot of money for some trees. I'm with Tadpole though. Whats the whole story?

~Was it some kind of regualtion that reguired the Air Froce to build them to meet some kind of reguiremnt by the French Goverenment. if so then that doesnt seem too bad if thats what it took to put an air base in France. ie:Cant just simply have gravel and sand as landscaping. Outcome:1.8 Million dollars
~Did some guy have a fetish with palm trees and thus dranied over a million dollars?
Outcome:1.8 million dollars.

What really matters is what is hidden inside the trees that cost $1.8million. Do we have cameras and missles and such... Has anyone chopped one of these things down to check out their insides? 60 Palm Trees, surely they won't miss one.

Why would you think we care is the bigger question.
We all know our country blows more money than any other country on earth. Do you think I give a rat's ass about the cost of some palm trees? No, I don't.
What numbers I do care about however are numbers like these.
Initial deployment of troops: $9 billion to $13 billion
Conducting the war: $6 billion to $9 billion per month
Returning forces to US: $5 billion to $7 billion
Temporary occupation of Iraq: $1 billion to $4 billion per month
Even more staggering to me and it should be be of bigger concern than your landscaping is this number 26,982
Any idea what that number is?

I only stated facts. Believe me the AF blew that much money on palm trees. They probably got a bulk discount on them too. They are some very good looking palm trees though lol. Do a little research and youll see they are very expensive.
