I think this makes the book of world records for fastest stolen ipod since purchase.

as maybe 3 of you know...i just got an ipod for my birthday (in june) and even though i had issues working it, I was very sweet to it. i basically loved it, ok? It stayed in my purse 80% of the time...i took it to work everyday and took it home everyday. at home, it always stayed in the purse except for 30 min every few days when i ran with it.

Now it's gone!!!!

here's the facts:

i take good care of it, and i knew where it was until i came home one day and my roommates little sister and her bf were over for a visit...and i joined them in some light up time.

and the next morning, by the time i first sat down at work..it was gone. from my purse.

her sister is 17 and steals from stores and has stolen things from people.

her sister is pretty spoiled and has no concept of money and the work it takes to earn it.

her sisters friends steal from people.

my roommates boyfriend had 200 dollars stolen from his wallet a few weekends earlier...and no one was in the room with his wallet except for the little sister and all her friends.

here's the clincher:

her sister really likes me, always was nice to me.

i can't imagine her or her bf doing something like that. just can't.

so what do i do tpunks? what should i think?
this has caused a fight between my roommate and i (because she believes that her sister did not take it). All my friends say that her sister, her, or her parents are responsible for buying me a new one. But i feel so wrong about that because i can't 100% prove the lil sis stole it. so i've layed out the facts for you guys....what do you think????

YIKES!

That's a real shitty thing to have happen - losing your iPod.

However, as much as the finger is pointing towards yer roomie's sista, you can't pressure her to buy a replacement unless, of course, she's caught red-handed.

With that in mind, have you had anything taken from you in the past? - is this the first thing that you've "lost"?

I truly feel for ya....

Wow, man. That sucks the big one. It does sound as though the most likely explanation is the sister or her boyfriend or whatever, but unfortunately you're right, unless you catch them redhanded you can't really do much except kick and scream and make a MAJOR fuss, which probably won't really get you anywhere in the end.

I'm so sorry. I don't know what to tell you.

Ack, that sucks ass

Can't really think of much to do other than to confront her, and then I'm sure she'll deny it anyway.

Only thing I can say is in the future, you can have your iPod engraved, that way if anyone steals it, you can check and see if it's actually yours!

Oh no!!!!! Poor litlle iPod!

If I were you, I would talk to that girl and tell her you KNOW she knows where your iPod is, and it better be back in your purse by next week or :greenguy: .

Well, even if she really likes you, she can still steal things from you. Liking someone won't really stop a person if they really want to steal something...

If I were you, I would confront her/her boyfriend/both to see what they do about it.

Have you asked around at worked incase you left it there?

Hope you find it!!

That is a real shitty situation to be in....deep down it sounds like the girl took it (or her bf) but like everyone else said, unless you have proof, there isn't a whole lot you can do.

I agree with Mocassin though. I would confront her, tell her that you got that for your birthday and you want it back if she did indeed take it. If she did take it you will see the guilt written all over her face. Tell her that if she took it, all you are asking is for her to give it back and you won't be mad or get her into further trouble. Maybe she will give it back to you if there are no embarassing consequences.

I would sugest talking to her about but not in too confrontational a manner. It could have been her BF, and maybe she doesn't even know. Just explain exactly what happened, without specifically accusing her. Tell her you want the I-
Pod to magically appear back in your room sometime soon......or she and her bf may find thrmselves waking up locked in the trunk of a car way out in the middle of the woods.

For $5 I will catch her, hang her upside down and torture the information out of her.

For $10 I will skin her, stuff her and mount her on a nice cherry wood plaque to hang on your wall.

qwardian...what would you do for $50?

thanks for the support everyone!

my retro....i took very good care of it...always knew where it was since i bought it.

and to everyone...i didn't speak to her lil sis because i figured there's nothing i can say to her that her sister can't. if she's going to lie to her family...she'll lie to me. btw...she lives 2 hours away so talking to her face to face isn't going to happen. no one in that family is really taking it seriously because "things" are meaningless to them...she basically buys or steals whatever she wants and her mom is ok with it.

I spoke to my roommates bf last night (yes, the BF, not HER because she won't talk to me...she thinks im very mad...which i am) and he basically said that her little sister didn't take it. the end. so i've given up on proving anything. even though i knew where it was up until the lil sis and her bf came over. so i'm DONE!

i'll just never listen to music...or look at the letter "i" easily again.

Tell her if you dont get it back you will call the police.

won't that make everything really messy between the roommate and i?? im not sure if i want to do that...esp. since she's already against the idea that her sis even took it.

besides...what can the cops do...they'll just laugh at me.

i take it this happened when you were at school?

If so does your school not provide contents insurance with your room? All of our student accomm over here provides contents insurance. I think i would bring it up with your roommate that until you can be sure that nothing else of yours will go missing you both should not have guests to stay, You guys over there have it real bad when you go to college, no way would we share bedrooms with anyone.

beergal...this happened in my apartment. the roommate invited her lil sis and her bf over and they were hanging out at our apt. i knew where the ipod was up until i walked in the door. so it's either in the apt (it isn't) or someone took it out of the apt......

btw...we don't share bedrooms. we have a 4 bedroom apt and only 3 people live at. it's not really a college environment...we NEVER have people we dont know over. things have never just walked away....

do you guys feel my confusion (and a bit of anger) more now??

I really hate to say it but without proof that the girl took it, the police aren't going to do anything. I used to live with these teenage boys and look after them while their dad was on the road working and they stole over $1000 that I had in my bedroom (I was waiting until the weekend was over so I could make a bank deposit--which is why I had so much money in the apartment) Anyway I went to the police and they wrote a report. But basically they told me that unless there is proof that the boys took it I was shit out of luck. Basically it just taught me to be a lot more careful about who to trust and I'm glad it wasn't a larger sum of money....sorry about your i-pod though.

If you confront her about about it and she denies.....which she will. I would suggest maybe stalking her for a few days.
Then you pounce when you see her with it, she won't be able to deny shit if you catch her listening to it.....

if you still have the box for it and you file a report with the policethey will have the seriel number onhand. any pawnshop is required by law to give al info to police on new products to police. hence why if you sell an item to the pawnshop they have to wait 30 days. if the little whore pawns it you will get it back and the police will know who took it.
