I have good success with the waist one. it feels a bit bulky but you get used to it. The neck ones are spotted by thieves a mile away. they see that strap and you become a target. but, thats just what i've read.

The first time I went to europe i just had a travel wallet. You know those big ones that you can sling across your body and are big enough to fit your wall. I liked it I always had it attached to my backpack as well, so in case someone tried to snatch it well let's just say they'd get in a big tangle. In costa rica, i followed advice and wore a waist money belt. it sucked!!! Man it was so HOT in CR, and the thing stuck to me like glue, it would be all wet and nasty all the time. And it was just akward if i had to buy something. excuse me sir while i did for my pouch. And yeah it makes your stomach look all bulky (like your pms'ing or something). hmm i dunno about the leg thingy. i like to have my money at arms reach at all times. But thats just me..sorry i have no advice

For my travels, I bought this really nice wallet with a neck strap...The thing you have to remember is: The strap goes under your shirt! You can adjust the strap so it's hidden under your shirt too. The wallet will also fit in a belt so you got double protection...It aslo looked good, and I still use it as a purse/wallet...It's made by Jack Wolfskin's.

I use an actual belt that has a zipper on the inside. So, this isn't one of those "money belts" that you wear on the inside of your pants, but an actual belt fits through your belt loops. Unzip it and the pocket area runs about 10". I fold my larger bills three times so they are a long narrow strip, and they slide in the money belt fine. It looks like an ordinary black, leather belt, so is very inobtrusive.

Granted, you can't put airline tickets or credit cards or anything like that. Pretty much just a cash stash.

I bought a waist belt, and I hated it!!! it was summer so it was hot as hell, it was itchy, and after a few days in the sweaty sun, it stated to smell...

Joan you are leaving Wed right? you will need a pull over or a jacket? you could try and sew a zipper pocket on the inside of that, i have a GAP sweatshirt I wear alot, and i did it with that, worked great.

the inside of your pant leg, for a pocket is a good one aswell, but use velco to keep it closed...i have 2 pairs of cargos my gramma sewed the ackets into...and there is no way someone is going to get my shit outta there!! just keep the bulk of my $$$ in there and my passport.

To get it done by Wed though may be tough if you can't do it yourself, try your local shopping mall for a tailor who can hel ya out.

thanks for looking out cd - yeah, i have plenty of warm clothes for the trip, a nice warm fleece, a couple wool turtlenecks and some silk long johns - i think i'm set. the weather in munich has been about 50 degrees lately which is about 20 degrees colder than what i'm used to (on cold days!) so, i had better be prepared.

alright then - see ya'll in 25 days!

I had a "crotch-pocket" that fit over my groin. Unfortunately, it'd get all wet and nasty and made me look bulky there - attracting faarrrr too many girls...not to mention it looked funny when I had to dig down for cash. So, I got rid of it.

J/k folks.

:D funny voyd, but it could be a popular product !

The waist money belt can be bothersome, I agree, but I got used to it. I would turn it to the side so it was right around the hip area. it's not too bad with just a passport, mony and credit cards in there, but add the plane ticket and Eurail ticket and it could be annoying, Better safe than sorry

WWM- I saw one of those at an Army Surplus store. What a cool little product! Thought about getting one for my next trip. But I would still need to have something else for my passport and plane ticket.

Here it is-

i was just thinking to sew zippers on my pants or cargo pockets. And because i'm especially paranoid after reading so much pickpocket stuff, maybe i'll lock it with some small number lock of some sort. and maybe leave a little hole so i can stuff the lock in so people dont notice and think "hey he has something to hide."

I dont know, i've jsut been getting paranoid reading all this stuff.

please dont steal my money, i dont wanna have to rough anyone up.

Yeah, TP, that's the picture of the type I use. One of the best things about it is the "out of sight, out of mind" aspect of it. Not only is it secure against pickpockets, if you were mugged, they would be less likely to realize you might have more money stashed on you like this...

Not that I've ever been mugged or had any problems like that...
