Well, I'm guessing it's Hindu or Buddhist and it's a type of mudra (that was conveniently adopted by christianity later)... am I missing something else?
Namaste.

SV may be on the right path regarding religion more but I thought it was like a customary greeting. Likea handshake would be. I know it is an honor thing. I am going from memory about 6 months back but isn't it like Nanast or something close?

Well, I *do* know that it's a typical greeting thing along with saying "Namaste", but as a deeper meaning it's a mudra. Pretty sure.

Congrats !
You're all right (well, Omisan, I'm not proud of you though... ). And namaste means something like "I salute the Gods in you". The highest, the most respect you show. My avatar is quite high (see the position of the fists).
I lived four months in Nepal with locals, and although the first few times I felt ridiculous greeting people in such way, when I came back home, I felt something was missing, not doing and telling namaste to my friends and family. Namaste is sometimes more than a word and gesture, if you focus on the feelings within you.
So my avatar is to say namaste to the TravelPUNK community. And that no, it is not a christian thing, and I'm not a nun ! :P :D

So it is Namaste. I was kind of close, I mean i get graded on a curve for going by memory right hehe.
Now I can tell people I have been considered cultured....and up until now they just called me a "Ghetto Redneck"
