funny you mention that - but maybe it only pertains to american men.

my friend just married a portuguese guy and she was recently retelling a story where there was a lagre family gathering at her parents house, some family friend came by with her boyfriend - i guess the portuguese husband told the family friend "you have a handsome guy" something along those lines - then everyone (the americans) cringed. told him he shouldn't say such things. he followed up with, "well, he has beautiful eyes" - haha, needless to say, he was met with more harsh glances.

americans can be weird.

Comes from endless days in school when your friends would give each other shit all the time. And in the competitive world of getting in the best insult or slam, a good joke about a friend's homosexuality was lethal. So, we grow up to be hyper-sensitive to any implication that we might be.

Myself, I work in the airline industry and so am used to gays. They don't bother me at all, and I've gone on several trips with gay guys. But if you had told me when I was in high school that I'd be taking a trip to Bali with a gay guy, I'd have run and hid.

So, yeah, American men tend to be homophobic, a bit...

This perception really annoys me. Why is it girls can go around and comment on how pretty a girl is and not be labeled gay, but as soon as a guy does it he get tagged. Then again who really cares what somebody thinks of you, if you're comfortable with who you are.

I am not a moron, I know if a guy is hot or not...So do the guys that say they don't know...Its just more acepted that women comment on each other i guess...

My wife comments on women all the time, which I think is really cool that she is like that, and I comment on guys, not a huge thing...I like to people watch, I think people are intersting and everyone is unique, even someone who may not be a runway model has something to offer.

That girl Sally Yoshino, is really hot, and I agree with joan about women from Japan, there is something very soft about them...I had the pleasure of dating a girl of Japanese decent, and she was a pretty special girl.... B)

In Québec it's the same thing, guys are a little homophobic, especialy the young ones...I think they are building their sexuality at this age and are propably afraid sometimes to be homosexual...Who has never wondered if he was attracted by people of the same sex!? Anyways...I think gay men make really special friends...My best friend is gay and he helps me buy some clothes, it's so fun shopping with him! Since I'm more of a Tomboy, he helps me look more feminin, even made me buy some skirts!

I can also tell him all about my problems in the love business, he is a good listener...
