I know with all the travels you do, your skin can take a beating! I have pretty sensitive skin where I can not ever be one of those girls who can wear makeup to bed (ew...) But I am always looking for new beauty ideas....

Anyway I had heard that taking pure fish oil will do wonders for your skin and so I gave it a try. I couldn't bear the thought of swallowing actual oil, so I opted for the oil tablets instead. Inexpensive ($7.00) at the drugstore but make sure it is pure fish oil, not a fish oil blend.

I have been taking 2 a day (only for a few days so far) but already the difference is amazing. My skin is so soft and is literally glowing. Has anyone else ever tried this or heard of this?

Anyway just a little something I wanted to share!

i prefer uranium tablets to get that special glow, but i have actually heard about the fish oil things before. It is helpful with things like dry hands and elbows? If so, I may give it a try myself.

I don't know about it helping out with dry hands and elbows, but something to fix that is pure cocoa butter. You can get it in little tubs at the drug store and if you rub it on the dry spots before you go to bed it will really help put some moisture back. I used to slather my whole body with the stuff!

I've been meaning to give fish oil pills a try anyway, now I just have another reason. Thanks Benna!

When I'm at home I try to take good care of my face but I don't use lots of crap on it-- yuk. Simplicity is the key. (Also I CANNOT use facial makeup / foundation. Ever.) Even though I'm hardly a teenager I still deal with zits, I guess the payoff of looking "younger" is having oily skin that breaks out somewhat regularly. On the other hand, sometimes I have absolutely zero regard for skincare, lol. Especially when traveling-- I'll just wash my face with whatever soap I'm using or even my shampoo.

so.... do you have any pictures of you lathering your whole body with cocoa butter??

seriously though I always use that stuff after I go tanning it helps to prevent your skin from drying out and flaking away, thus losing your tan.

actually I used to more than I do now When I was in high school I went multiple times a week I think the last time I went tanning was about 6 months ago. But I have a feeling that I am not the only one otherwise their wouldn't be a tanning salon on every corner in this town.

^Of course you're not the only one. It's just that usually only girls will admit to it!

(Personally I'm totally against tanning, but that doesn't have any bearing on why I'm teasing you about it.)

Hmm that's weird because it's kind of obvious if you are tanned in the middle of the winter so why wouldn't you admit to it. I don't think that I have ever met anyone, who tans, deny it. But maybe that's just where I live... and I know your just teasing me because it's in your nature to pick on me

nah, I don't think she's picking on you because it's YOU.....just because of the fact that it really is a rarity to find a guy who tans.....generally guys dont care enough about their looks to do so....

that is absurd... I'll bet you alot of guys are guilty of tanning at one point in their life. the reason I have done it recently was if I am going to a beach in the middle of winter I don't want to burn. the reason I did it in High school is because I wanted to look like I lived on a beach.

Im going to be guilty of it in the future. Im preparing for a 3 week side trip to spain in which I will be at the beach almost every day. im a ghost so im scared shitless of getting cooked there so im going to try a fake n bake. does anyone have any tips about how many times I should go and stay in for a skin tone that is as pale as it gets? thanks for the help. -kyle.
p.s. im normally against fake tanning, but I dont want to look like a lobster the second day of my trip

Kyle - usually the salon will tell you what to start at. I have really fair skin and used to tan and burned after a few sessions of minimal time. Just go for a couple mins a couple times a week.

My trick for that glow is Revlon Skinlights.

I've never been to a tanning place and i highly doubt that i ever will, i'll save my skin for the days when i'm actually out in the sun doing something. Has nobody heard of skin cancer??? For those of you that do it to prevent yourself from getting cooked when you're out in the sun, what's wrong with sunscreen?? Seems to work for me.

Cool

I heard jojoba oil is great for your skin - absorbs very easily and doesn't stay greasy.

And I have a built-in SPF 5000 tan - so I think I need a de-tanning booth? Oh well, it will come in handy as our ozone layer keeps burning off, haha!

I will admit to hopping in a tanning booth starting a few weeks before a trip to a sunny locale if its the middle of winter (or spring). Once I have a base tan, I usually do not burn, so its worth it to me to have a base when heading south. I do not do it all the time, but I would rather do that than get burned to a crisp on vacation. What makes it even easier is that my gym offers free tanning anyway as part of the membership........if I had to pay extra I probably wouldn't bother. BTW....tons of guys tan who go to my gym, its not just the girls. I do not know the reason (pure vanity...going on vacation...etc.)...but they do it.

That's why I don't do it anymore. I figure I was given pasty white skin for a reason. I don't have built in SPF! Damn Norwegian in me.
