So I was thinkin, has anyone ever heard of any stories to do with pregnancy while backpacking. I mean, maybe near the end of a girls trip she gets laid etc and lo-and-behold nature kicks in and a dodgy condom is used or whatever. I mean, how likely is this? Im pretty sure this must've happened at sometime throughout the history of backpackers. Or maybe more interestingly, is anyone here the offspring of a coming together of anonymous backpackers?

Actually, as a young lad in 1972 ,I fell in love with a rich , beaytiful 5' 11" blonde from central sweden, her name was Gunilla,She had this amazing , curly blonde hair, blue eyes, high boobs I could not keep my hands off, a smile that lit her whole face and we never made love indoors that whole summer. I was there with a bunch of hippies called the hog farrmers, for a save the whales demonstration during the UN Ecology conference. We bought a bus and dressed it as a whale with a tail and drove the streets of Stockholm blaring "whales and nightingales" through the speakers, echoing of the buildings ( a song by judy collins form the hippie days) We ( about 5,00 people) , camped in swedish army tents, in a field downtown. All we did was listen to music, a few speeches by people like wavy gravy(old hippie) and margret mead (beasutiful, conected person), stewart brand ( founder of whole earth mag), etc and do drugs and make love to every "hippie chick we met" I liked Sweden so much every girl was a blonde, we thought we would change the world , but , I guess I was ... would have been just a sexist pig except the women were the same as the men as far free sex etc.
Gunnila became pregnant in a forest in Darlina (N central Sweden where I was attending a Folksagskolen learning weaving , pottery , other hippie shit. I took off with the bus to Afghanistan ( Kabul) where we all sat around smoking hash and fucking each other . Gunnila stayed in Sweden , had a girl and I have never heard from her since . so .... use a condom!
At least in those days no one ever heard of aids! I sure wish I could know my daughter. Gunilla never answered a letter since then. Her father was chairman of Wasa bread and major stock holder so I know, at least she is well off.

When I was living in the hostel in California, this one girl from Brazil ended up getting pregnant. She had this tortured love affair with this American boy while she was staying there and her plan was to have the baby when she went back home. Don't know what ever happened to her though. I know the American guy wanted to have her stay here but she was pretty adament about going home and dealing with it there....

BE CAREFUL though!!

I'm thinking that the father wouldn't know on most occasions - I mean once you've done the wild thing by the time the mother knows she is pregnant the two of you would have travelled on to different places. That's unless you exchanged contact details then you would hope she would contact you. Having said that I didn't swap details with the girls I had fun with (but always wore protection)

I'm interested to ask the girls here if you did fall pregnant from a one nighter would you try contact the father even if he lives in another country?

two cases i've heard of. one from my uni paper about a girl who went to spend 6 months in the uk, had a fling in the 1st week and got knocked up, so she cut her trip short, came back to oz and had the bub.

the other more disturbing was one i read in a uk paper about a lass who had a one nite stand with a guy while at ibiza or some such, and now the guy has to pay child support as he go put down as the father on the birth certificate, when he didn't even know he was a dad (he was pretty young as well)

so guys and gals if yours gonna pay in the rain, wear a raincoat.

Yes, it has happened. Luckily, I've never been the father, but I do know women it's happened to...

so sad to hear these stories of young women left holding the babe, by we bad boys, life goes on but some things never change. at least women these days have more choices to avoid raising a child from a one stand or travelin' man. I wrote Gunnila for years and never could get her to answer, tried freinds and friends of freinds, I hope a good man helped her raise my daughter!

That was my guess as well. Maybe she thought that if there was a step dad in the picture then it was best for the daughter just to assume he was the real father and let it all go from there.

I don't want to say she tried to replace you but maybe she thought it was best for the girl. Also being from money as you said her family may have wanted a coverup type deal.

I don't know if I would or not to be totally honest. If I had the guys contact info then I think I would let him know about the situation. However I wouldn't make him give up his life to be a part of mine and the baby's. I would hope the guy would help out with some finances, but I wouldn't become one of those women that go out and buy a new car with child support money!!
