*Boo hoo* I just suffer through hangovers. I try to drink alot of water, but fruit juice just seems to hard on my stomach! I had the worst one this weekend but I think it's 'cause I have a cold too. Oh and avoid smoking when you're really drunk (Because I don't smoke regulary...just after my 5th drink!) That doesn't help either ha ha.

To bad I didn't make it to my computer before I wrote to the drunk only thread. Ah well. My bed looked WAY to comfy!

it might just be me but why is it when you have a hangover you always wake up extra early....hangover cure as follows....
(1)wake up..sex..or masturbation
(2)fresh orange juice with plenty of juicey bits in it
(3)stand in the shower for what feels like an hour but really is only about 20 mins...get out of the shower and realise i still stink of stale smoke and old beer...get back in the shower rewash hair with vigour and bathe in lots of coconut showergel...
(4)put on already ironed clothes (no way can you iron with a hangover)
(5)if i can manage it put contact lenses in if not continue to blow dry hair none of this straightners rubbish today its gonna have to be curly mop top day..by now the dryness of my eyes should be moist put lenses in
(6) bronzer on face, white kohl eyeliner to open eyes up and lashings of clear mascara
(7) walk out of flat...jump in first taxi
(8) Proceed to albert docks for massive fry up including black pudding and more orange juice and 3 nurofen
(9) feel half human again*

While I'd like to think that most of that is helpful..I'm overcome with a sense of WTF????
lol do we need more of an explanation

I get a hangover about once out of every dozen times I drink. Maybe less. But I know that copious amounts of water, caffeine and greasy food-- preferably from the type of diner that has great grub and surly servers-- works for me every time. I have NEVER been able to face the idea of consuming alcohol on a day that I'm hungover, lol. eek.

Water with electrolytes (i favor Glaceau Smartwater) before bed and after I wake up... seems to do the trick - maybe an Aleve (naproxen sodium 220mg) or two if I feel a big one coming on. Despite all the electrolytes in it (key for rehydration) I don't suggest Gatorade, since it's also got the same sulfites that make red wine such a head-killer.

^ You can actually make your own homemade electrolyte by simply pouring a little table salt and potassium (eg - NoSalt) into a glass of water.

Just don't overdo it, as large doses of potassium can actually cause death in the weak and vulnerable! But, I did try it once to cure a splitting headache from heat dehydration and it worked instantly like a charm! As long as you don't dump several heaping tablespoons in - you should be just fine!

nice to know im not alone....i dont smoke yet something w/10 beers and then im a chimney...

i was once in this fancy dancy joint in philly and it had one of those foo foo bathrooms with a dude in there handing you a towel, turning on the sink for you...there was cologne and gum and hair gel and all that for use, and you are spose 2 tip the guy, and i was drunk and thought " if im tipping this guy for handing me a towel i want something outta this" grabbed a smoke, he lit it, i walked out and my friend was like" dude you don't smoke."

ahhh the joys of alcohol....and on a side note, directly after that a narc tried to buy coke off of me, which is odd since im not a drug dealer....

Charcoal pills! If you take them while you drink, the next morning you should be fine. They are available over the counter in most pharmacies in Europe, I'm not sure about the US. They make your poop black, after all they are charcoal, their main function is to absorb all toxins in your body, and I swear, they work like a charm.
Other than that, Alka Seltzer morning relief is all I gotta say.
Not to be a naysayer or anything, but charcoal is real bad for you. Free radicals in charcoal have been shown to be carcinogenic.

I pick up a McDonalds bagel and 2L of water from tesco on the way back from the party/club, eat the bagel on my way to work, jog upstairs, change my clothes, lug the water down with me and start work. The key is greasy mcdonalds food and shitloads of water. I try to drink the 2L before lunch.

Here in Ireland most people "go for the cure" which is getting pissed all over again, it works. It's also known as "super sunday".

I just sleep trough it, wake up around 12 or 1 get as much yop as I can get my hands on and have a few spliffs while watching the grand prix. I don't get bad hangover though I just feel a little mongie.

You can't beat a good fry up to sort your head out.

Has anyone ever not had a hangover when they first wake up after drinking a lot but sometime later in the day it just hits you out of nowhere? If so, what did you do?

Kaffeine - to me, that is the absolute worse kind of hangovers, cuz then it just lingers.

I agree with the greasy food. I love going to Perkins after bar time and getting food. Can't stand their food sober, but when I'm plowed, it rocks my world.

What are those tablets that people in the military use (or maybe used?) - were they just salt tablets or what that they took to stay hydrated? I forgot the name. Those are supposed to be damn good.

Question

I have a couple more now:

Crack a beer - it really does work.
Make a smoothie - easy on the stomach and helps a lot
Charcoal pills in the USA are called "Chasers" - they work pretty good but its hard to remember to take the pills as you drink and you can't pick up chicks popping pills after a couple shots!

I am currently hungover and the smoothie thing helped a lot. I went directly to Wendy's for a big bacon classic - also helped (grease).

Does anyone else wake up "retarded" in the morning where your brain doesnt want to work too well?

Foo
