I've had the swab, but worse yet, the SCRAPER - they take this plastic Xacto blade looking thing to scrape up a culture from the area in question.
Turns out I was just oddy allergic to Lever 2000 soap, but man, I sure learned my lesson about having to go to the Men's Clinic!
As for people who put stuff up their pee-hole for pleasure:

I had an STD test once but it didn't involve a swab, scraper, or anything more painful than the needle to draw blood. WTF?
'Course I'm not sure how legit the guy's credentials were since he worked out of the back of a shoe store in Tijuana but I got a free beer with my test so who gives a shit!!

The swab tests for gonorrhea, but I think it's really more like 5-10 seconds only...it just FEELS like 30 seconds!

I could have sworn my Doctor recently told me that there is now an alternative to the swab that came out - either a blood or urine test, I believe....I forget which. This was a few months ago that he told me that when I was in for something else.
Jake - I hope you didn't suffer that experience for nothing!!

Actually, something like that. I was having a physical with some basic bloodwork and just asked if it included STD testing. He said no and went on to tell me about what a full STD work-up involved. He happened to mention how the gonorrhea test used to be a painful swab test but now there is a new one.....blah, blah, blah. That's the story.
Happy Pappy??

my doc heard they were having some troubles with that method and haven't perfected it yet.
I think mostly they do the swab for "making you think twice" reasons. Cause lord knows that modern medicine would have come up with something better by now!

Haha I'd like to ad to SV's post earlier...
have you guys ever heard of PAP?
Every year we women have to go in... they stick a metal rod type deal up there... and then twist a dial which OPENS it to as wide as they'd like (or until we scream) then then do MULTIPLE swabs of our insides... then if we're unlucky enough to have some problems not even related to sex they do an internal exam...
So until they stick a metal rod up your member which can be spread apart to the doctors liking please don't tell me how painful your sTD tests are... cause I can guarentee you that our MANDATORY yearly tests suck waayyy worse

aaaaaahhh my dear. While you may not like it, nature intended for your opening to be spread to crazy sizes, while ours was meant only to pee and ejaculate.
Course after drinking a 12 pack and trying to hold off the inevitable, that opening can't open fast enough, but never the less...

yes yes I will agree that your hole was not designed to be spread apart.
I suppose I could say that both exams really suck and therefore as Jake said Abstinence, or in my case being too busy to think about getting any, might be a great policy. and If not Wrap your tool
