hi everyone, i was planning on buying a camera for my next trip, i don't know when that's going to be though, so i was just going to wait for prices to go down, quality to go up, be all happy when i get one in like 6-18 months. i really don't need it for anything else, i don't go anywhere or need a camera for anything else. WELL, my parents found out i was looking at cameras and then tonight for chanukah(in our family we just get 1 present instead of 8) they got me a camera and they were all like: "we really hope you like it jake!!!" and i was like YAY a camera!!! and then i started using it....it really sucks, it's the shittyest camera i have ever used. its like amazing, you think i had tried to be the worst camera ever!! every picture is blurry you can hardly see whats going on. i showed the pics to my parents to try and get them to suggest returning it and getting a better one but they were like: "OMG!!! THOSE PICTURES ARE GRRRRREEAAAT!!!!" and i was like(in my head): "what?!?!?! are you kidding me!?!? do you even recognize whose in the picture?!?!" soooo, now im stuck with the shittyest, most annoying camera to carry around, camera in the entire world. i'll just be like: "HEY!! you know! i can return this one and then get an even better one for a much lower price!!!" oy, their going to be sad....damnit!! i hate this!!! i asked for a movie and a cd!!! they should have gotten me the movie!!! i guess they tried.....haha
anyways, anyone else gettin anything....undesirable?
my grandparents sent 10 gallons of different popcorns, that's the best present i've ever gotten!! haha

I feel your pain ryder! but from the sounds of it, you could just say to them oh, could i grab the receipt cause a button doesnt work. Then exchange it for something better. Your parents wont know, cause if they cant see the pictures are crap, they probably think a camera is a camera!
If it turns out they do find out just say, "Oh yeah, they couldnt replace it so they gave me this one instead!"

Actually, my parents will usually make darn well sure they are getting the right thing, especially if its technological. They will do their best to try and snoop around and such and ask other people that know about it, and even occasionally drop a line similar to so and so were thinking of getting this, is that good? So, not too often to they mess stuff up. I got my Canon Rebel SLR for christmas one year, and I love that thing. It is apparantly so cool, that I think 3 people have bought because I had it and they liked it.
Sorry to hear about the camera man... that sucks. I kind of like the Canon Digitals too... my buddy has one of the really small ones and it actually takes really good pictures and videos (like 3 min or so). They are like $300-$400 now.

yeah my dad just bought a cannon slr eos. Its great, although way too big to take backpacking. Also u dont want to have a heaps expensive camera while backpacking anyway. The photos are only to remind you of what happened, if u need to be a pro about it, then dont go backpacking. Thats my two bobs anyway.

I will be taking my Canon Rebel camera backpacking... i don't think its too big. I can walk around all day with it around my neck without bothering me. Plus when I get into serious backpacking I will have a day pack I can slip it in.

I like giving presents much more than getting them. Seriously. It's so fun to research, and then hunt, then buy and wrap and then give it. This year I'm short on cash cause I'm leaving two days after cmas, but it'll still be alright.

Lol, good save. But, that's why I don't get people big tech items, clothing or jewelry. Those are all highly-dependant on personal tastes and if they don't like 'em, I don't want them to feel obligated to have to keep 'em.
