for anyone who's heard me bitching about my orthodox lubavitcher jewish british ex-schoolteacher auntie who was visiting this weekend... she's gone. Thank you lord. I took her to the airport this morning, although that in and of itself was fraught with interesting occurrences:
I lent her my cell phone so she could call me when she arrived near my office, so that I could pick her up and take her to SeaTac, some time around 9:45 or 10am. This was my schedule this morning:
1. Wake up about 20 minutes late.
2. Step in dog shit on the way from my door to the car-- from a neighbor dog who gets into the garbage and likes to sit in our yard and bark all night.
3. Wrangle traffic to my office, get in to the office and discover I have left my bag at home-- no wallet, nothing.
4. I get in to the office at 9:15 and she has left me about 11 messages-- 5 at my house and 6 at the office, panicking, wondering where I am-- because she forgot that I don't get to work until between 8:45 and 9:15.
5. Finally locate said distraught strange woman and listen to her occasional rants and raves about her now ex-husband (she was here to collect her belongings from their house.)
6. Deposit said ranting and raving strange woman (yes, I love her dearly, but she makes me insane) at the airport and breathe a huge sigh of relief. It's over, she has left the building. Thank you very much.
7. On the way back to the office, I check my voice mail on my cell phone... and she had left a frantic message for me there as well.
Uh, hello? She was USING my cell phone to make that call!!! hahaha.
And if you think I had it bad... she was staying with my mom. LOL. Poor mother unit.
