Poor guy. It's funny to think that there are a bunch of people waiting backstage with pieces of cardboard for such an occasion.

Freaking men's synchronized diving was ridiculous! Congrats to the Ukraine on their first ever medal in this event! I am totally into this syncronized diving event. The damn Chinese were amazing! Everyone was! And the Canadian guys were so freaking hot, it didn't matter they didn't do that well haha.

haha, that was my first reaction! Any sport where a crew stands by to block the view of your horrifying injuries is one I am NOT interested in trying.

i wish australian tv showed more sports, i swear its all swimming and boring stuff like hockey and softball. i like the sports that when you watch you go "omfg! i could never do that!" like the diving and gymnastics, its more impressive.

found out tonight my cousin is over there with the NZ equestrian team again, he used to be one of the athlete dudes (can someone sitting on a horse really be called an athlete?! ) but now hes their team manager apparently. bummer. wish i knew sooner it would have been cool to scab some free tickets. hong kongs nice this time of year

Australians are kicking ass in swimming though, I can see why they'd be showing that a lot where you are...

Zack, I was gonna post that video, but didn't want to be known as the person who spreads another person's misery, haha. I'm glad someone posted it though. I almost cried when I saw it.

I don't think they provide free tickets. Most of the Canadian athletes family, including their parents, are watching the games from home. Or maybe Canada is too poor to pay for the family, whilst the rest of the world can.

Good luck to your cousin's team !

^I like your attitude, I really do, but we're talking about a country who is most likely cheating to win gold medals (the very least of all their atrocious crimes) so I doubt they'd succumb to pressure from a Facebook group...

LOL! I totally read that story and felt validated. I've been following the women's gymnastics closely and I KNEW that girl was not 16. China needs to quit playin! We've got 2 hurt on our team and we've got a 4 (wo)man front now instead of 6, and you don't see us throwing in the kiddies to help us along.

Relatedly, I head a lot of baseball players in the US who come from other countries do that shit, albeit backwards, but still... I've heard stories of like Venezuelan players who falsify shit to make them younger, blah blah.

Cheaters never prosper!

Yeah... I know... actually I doubt any of those Facebook petitions are good for anything, but I guess deep down I hope that one day she'll know all the people that would've loved it if it was her up there singing to the world. I'm a helpless romantic, or a fighter for lost causes, I know. But I just feel for her.. at that age, being told that you're not pretty enough is just awful

Perhaps she'll never hear or see any of it, but I hope the message gets to her. I looooved (totally childish, I know, but I loved it)

Interesting to note that Canada, New Zealand and South Africa have not yet won any medals.

I thought that was surprising.

haha NZ havent won, cos their only medal contentions are the equestrian team- who were out right away, the rowers, and a windsurfer. but all those teams had thier heyday a few olympics ago, and theres no new kids. i think their last hope is in shot put now.

im suprised canada hasnt won anything yet, they had a big team didnt they?

He was from Sweden.

Jess, what are you talking about? Swimming has been amazingly awesome. Check out the 4x100m Men's relay. That was beyond cool!
