Yay Brooke!!! I'm very happy for you & Sandy.
As for names - of the 4 you listed I love Sophia. To throw another name out there though, I've always been a fan of Jocelyn. My little brother was going to be named that IF he had been a she.

Congrats, Brooke!
I guess you can't name her "Steve" now. Perhaps "Stevie?" As in Stevie Nicks?

I still like Fiona. If I ever have a daughter (and I will probably be 80 before I ever get the chance) that is what I will name her.

Congrats Brooke, that's awesome!!
I like Sophia a lot as well, though I think its a very popular name right now. One of my friend's daughters is named Sophia. Ella is nice to.
Come to think of it, why don't you name her Babbling Brooke as sort of a hippie ode to your self

Aww, yay! A girl!
I'm no help at all with names, but I do like Sophia.
Side note: I was at Target one day and there were these two adorable little twin girls, maybe about 2 or 3? I overheard the mom telling another lady that their names were "Ellie" and "Ella".
I mean, really. SERIOUSLY.

So glad to hear everything's going well now that you are eating and your little girl is growing well. Those kicks in the gut are the best feeling, aren't they? And if you're ever annoyed at daddy because he's sleeping peacefully while you're unable to sleep because of the mosh pit in your stomach when she gets a little bigger, cuddle up really close to him and she'll actually kick him hard enough that he'll wake up. Not that I would ever do or condone such a thing...
One of my daughter's has twins in her class called Christine and Christina. I can understand passing down a similar (or even the same) middle name, if you're going to call the kids by their first, but quite apart from the unoriginality of it all, oh, the confusion! Our kids have four extremely distinctive names, and I still get them confused constantly. Of course, half the comments addressed to me begin, "Daddy, ..." so I guess they get their own sweet revenge.
I have to weigh in on the Kraft Dinner/Mac&Cheese with ketchup debate, fully on the side of the ketchup eaters. I don't know why it horrifies Americans so, you put ketchup or hot sauce on everything else... I would pass on the peanut butter/pickle/chocolate syrup sandwiches though - pregnant or no.
Speaking of which, I'm also joining the spring baby parade - 23 weeks and the ultrasound looked great - reassuring with my history. The doctor estimated the delivery date and I pointed out that ALL four of our kids were 2-10 days late but he said, No, this is Germany, the baby will be on time. So, there we are then. Yawold, and all that.
Don't know the sex though - we're in the minority who prefer not to find out 'til delivery day. Which, as mentioned above, is written in stone. My husband has been gone for the last four months, so he's very much looking foward to getting home and getting kicked in the back in the middle of the night. Soon, soon, we hope.
Good luck to you with your adventures in pregnancy, and as for names, we actually get a lot of inspiration from those baby name books. The names we choose are seldom in the baby name books, but they get us thinking, at least. One thought for a girl - if you give her a really truly "girl" name, consider a middle name that's a bit less frilly in case she winds up being more of a tomboy, even for just part of her life.
We've also discovered, and I think this is truly bizarre, that the names we pick (into which we always put a lot of thought and attention - both to the dodgy initials/terrible nickname potential, as well as to the meanings of the names themselves, where the kids were born, etc) actually turn out to be more and more meaningful than even we expected, as the kids get older and their characters develop. Example, we have a daughter whose name means "victory" and she has the most finely honed sense of justice I've ever seen in a child. Her middle name means "strange/wonderful" and she has been described to us by numerous people as "exotic".
On the down side, our oldest daughter's name means "sun" and we thought how lovely and wonderful - we didn't consider that the sun is a massive reaction generating enormous amounts of overwhelming energy best experienced by humans from millions of light years away. Having discovered that aspect of her character (at approx age 18 months) we immediately and automatically cross off any names that mean, "energetic", "electric" or anything else remotely related! For the record, our daughter is a lovely, bright, sunny child (young lady!ack!) whose smile lights up the room and she is truly wonderful - she was just a highly energetic toddler. We're better now...

I went to school with twins named Aaron and Eric. That in itself was confusing enough.
Aaaanyway...

This totally reminds me of an old Saturday Night Live sketch with Nicolas Cage. Unfortunately, it WAY predates YouTube, so I found a transcript somewhere instead...
Quote:
[open on a married couple trying to think of a name for their unknown baby]
Wife: I was thinking about Joseph.
Husband: [turned off] Joseph?
Wife: Yeah. Joseph.
Husband: Well.. it's a nice name, but the kids are gonna call him "Joe Blow." I mean, as long as you know that. Or "Sloppy Joe," you know.."How are Mr. & Mrs. Schmo?"
Wife:Well, I guess that's true..
Husband: I mean it's a nice name.
Wife: Well, that's alright. How about John? That's a nice and simple.
Husband: What, are you serious?
Wife: Well, yeah.
Husband: John? You want to do that to the kid?
Wife: Do what?
Husband: [mimicking] "Hey, John! Hey, let's go to the john. Huh, John? Le'ts go!"
Wife: Well.. wouldn't he outgrow those jokes?
Husband: Look, kids are mean. I just want him to have a happy childhood, too..but, "Long John Silver?" I mean, I don't know what to say!
Wife: Okay, okay, okay.. Well.. um.. what about Peter?
Husband: Oh, right. Sure. Peter. Let's just put him up for adoption right now, save the kids a lot of agony. I mean, obviously - no Peter, no Dick, no Rod! Can we just discuss this intelligently, please?
Wife: Yes, we can. [thinking] Okay.. um.. William.
Husband: William. Good. "Wee Willie!" "Willie Wonka! Hey! Where's your chocolate factory?! Oompa-Loompa" every day of his life!
Wife: Did you get teased a lot as a kid?
Husband: [defensive] No, I did not. Did you tease a lot of kids? Because, judging from these names, you're picking, you don't seem to be very sensitive.
Wife: Okay, I'll just keep trying..What about Fred?
Husband: [sighing] Please.. Fred, Frank.. please, the F's are no good. If he's fat, it's just a disaster.
Wife: Okay, alright. Um..Sam?
Husband: Great. Sam. "Uncle Sam." "I want you..to be ostracized!"
Wife: Then Paul.
Husband: Right. Paul. "Hey, Paul, where's Peter and Mary?!"
Wife: What?
Husband: Peter, Paul and Mary. "Hey, Paul! Play me a folk song, and then I'll beat the crap out of you!"
Wife: Well, at this point, I'd just settle for anything. How about.. Jack?
Husband: [thinking] Hmm.. yeah.. yeah, Jack's a fine name.
Wife: Really?
Husband: Oh, yeah.. as long as we make his middle name O'Lantern! Because that is what everyone's gonna call him.
Wife: Okay.. fine.. what about Ben?
Husband: Ben! Oh, fine, we're giving birth to a big bear? Great! "Gentle Ben!" "Hey, Ben, where's Jerry? Get me some ice cream, or I'll beat the crap outta ya!"
Wife: We could call him "Benjamin."
Husband: Sure. Benjamin. Harrison! "Hey, Benjamin, how's that tariff coming? Montana a state yet?"
Wife: Well, what about.. Todd?
Husband: [stretching for an excuse] Todd.. Todd.. Tad! "Tadpole!" "Hey, Tadpole, I don't like you! Thank your parents!"
Wife: Now, come on, I said "Todd," not "Tad." You changed the name, that's cheating.
Husband: Yeah, and it took five seconds. It might take a kid ten.
Wife: [sighing] Okay.. what about Harry?
Husband: "Hey, Harry, where are the Hendersons?"
Wife: Oh, come on! Nobody even saw that movie!
Husband: Kids saw it! Alright, one more.. come on, we can do it..
Wife: Alright. Um.. Nate.
Husband: "The Nate Rockne Story." "Hey, Nate, where the Gipper?"
Wife: What?
Husband: [pacing the room] Na-ate! Na-ate!! Do you like that sound? Well, you better get used to it! [his wife walks across the room] Hey, where are you going?
Wife: [leaving through book] I'm looking at this Baby Name book, I thought it could help us.. [looking through book] How about Bjaardker?
Husband: [intrigued] Oh?
Wife: Bjaardker. It's Icelandic.
Husband: [considering] Yeah.. that's a tough little name to crack. That could be good. [puts his face up to his Wife's belly] Hey, Bjaardker, little fellow. You might just have a good childhood, after all. [Wife laughs]
Wife: I love you.
Husband: I love you. [they kiss, as the doorbell rings] You sit, honey.
Wife: Alright.
Husband: [answering the door] Yes?
Telegram Deliverer Hi, how you doing? I've got a telegram here for a Mr. & Mrs. Asswipe Johnson. I'm supposed to read it. [holds telegram] "Dear Aswipe & Emily: Congratulations on your upcoming blessed event. All our love, Bob & Diane." Here you go, Sir. [hands him the telegram]
Husband: Uh.. listen.. that's "Os-wee-pay."
Telegram Deliverer [confused] What?
Husband: Uh.. forget it, forget it.. [closes the door and sits next to his wife]
Wife: That was really nice of Bob and Diane.
Husband: [sighs] Yeah, but why do they hae to mention my name so much?
Wife: Oh, honey..

Congratulations indeed Tamara! We must have been "getting busy" around the same time because I'm 23 weeks also... Baby #5. Wow I can't even begin to imagine. I am completely overwhelmed with two "step-kiddies" and this little one hasn't even come out yet! Oh and speaking of the baby "coming out" I may be sending you a PM one of these days asking all about the horrors to expect come delivery day. Though, one would think since you have done it four times and about to do it again that it isn't THAT bad right???

Well...actually, you tend to lose your memory when you're pregnant (commonly known as pregnant brain) and it never completely comes back. At least, mine hasn't.
I think it's a self-preservation thing.
I'm looking forward to the PM!
And maracle, in our house it feels a lot more like chaos than organized! But it's fun.

I have been keeping a little online journal about this little baby journey. It's long and boring to most of you I'm sure but I wanted to post the link just in case there may be anyone interested in reading. Especially our newly expecting Miss Chick, who has just started incubating her own little chick! http://www.i-am-pregnant.com/vip/benna2
Everything is going well though, this little baby is super active and I actually think I felt her ROLL over last night. It was the strangest feeling. She has be laughing already though!

Not being a woman, it has to be very weird to feel something roll over or just move around in your stomach. I must say though, the thought of having a kid is getting into my head. Thanks for keeping us posted and continue to do so

The latest two blog entries from the growing Benna2! Things are going good and I'm getting very anxious for Baby to arrive and wreak havoc on my quiet life!
March 17th, 2008
My friends had a baby shower for me yesterday…Being the first one of us to have a baby, they are pretty excited about becoming “aunts”. I’ve been friends with some of them since childhood and it amazes me that I still have such close connections from so many years ago. I don’t think many people are lucky enough to have truly grown up with their core group of best friends. We don’t get to see each other that often because we’ve all moved away and gotten jobs and lives of our own, so it was really nice to see them yesterday.
Three of their moms were there as well and some of them made the comment about how they can’t believe I’m going to be a mom. I can’t either!
We played some dorky shower games and ate lots of food. They went all out with the food and dessert. After I opened the presents, I made a little impromptu speech about how I’m so lucky to have good friends and family for support and how having my first baby is something that I’m so excited about but I’m also a little scared too and it’s so nice to know they are there for me. Of course in my hormonal, emotional state, I started to tear up a little bit and then my Mom and Grandma cried a bit too.
The gifts! My Mom bought me a pack ‘n’ play (which will come in handy when I take the baby to her house!) A bunch of people went together to buy me a travel system and a high chair. All of them are the new Deco design (that I love!!!) from Babies’R’Us. I also got some diapers, a few cute outfits and a quilt. Lots of pink and I keep saying a little prayer that the ultrasound technician didn’t make a mistake in telling me that it’s a girl!
I am going out after work to buy thank you cards so I can get those out right away. I made a cheeseball for the party that everyone loved, so I am also going to include the recipe for that in the envelopes. They will all think that’s kinda funny.
Well I am getting closer and I can’t wait for this little baby to arrive, so she can start enjoying life on the outside!! (And of course meet all these crazy girls that had the shower for her!)
March 14th, 2008
Well just call me Fatty. I've gained another 6 lbs! I am a bit annoyed about this, because it is going to be so hard to take off after I have the baby. I am one of those girls that has constantly struggled with my weight, so it's just hard psychologically for me to deal with it. Yes, I know I am pregnant and will gain weight. I just didn't think it was going to pile on so fast! Oh well. I guess a membership to Weight Watchers and the gym will have to be purchased after the blessed event! I've gained a total of 30 lbs and I still have 8 weeks to go...I don't know how much weight I will have gained by the end! The doctor says she is not worried about it, but she isn't "happy" about it either. I have decided to talk to a dietician that the doctor recommended about general healthy eating while pregnant and breastfeeding, just to educate myself. Oh and I've cut out McDonalds!
Other than that, my baby is a little gymnast and is constantly moving around. Sometimes I just lay down on the couch and watch my belly move around. The sheer entertainment of it is amazing. My friends are having a baby shower for me on Sunday and none of them have seen me since my belly popped out. I'm excited to see their reactions to my pregnant tummy. I was talking to one of them on the phone last night and she asked how much longer until I have the baby and she said "I can't believe you're going to be a MOM!!!" I'm the first of our little group to have a baby. Which is a good thing because I can't really see any of them having kids just yet!

You must be getting so excited ! Your baby is going to be here in no time!

Breastfeeding is an awesome way to get rid of that weight. I HIGHLY recommend it. From my own experiences and those of my friends, feeding on demand is the quickest way to get back to normal size, even if you have to get up more frequently than on a schedule.
