Default Self Inflating Air Mattress Question

I bought THIS air mattress today at an army surplus store and i opened up the valve to let it inflate but nothing seems to be happening i am assuming that it needs time to let the foam decompress from being rolled up for a while but my question is, is this normal or is this thing busted?

Thanks alot

Often with the off-brand mattress's of this type you need to blow some air into the hole. I find even with the brand-name ones, aka thermalite, that I still have to add air to it to make it comfortable.

I hope this helps!

Yeah these things take a bit of use before they reach there maximum comfort level. Blow a bit of air in there until then if it helps.

These things are always packed in a tight little roll, which compresses the foam so they don't inflate immediately. The advantage to the foam ones is that even when they don't inflate well, it only takes a few breaths to puff them up.

When you aren't using it, it helps to inflate it and store it full, then it'll fill out easier when you do use it.
