Yeah, we have tons of nursing jobs here Lauren! They're begging for nurses.
That said, the shortage hasn't stopped them from getting paid shittily. But maybe thats why there's a shortage

Is it a message board no-no if I'm too senile to remember and too lazy to go back and check if I answered this for my current circumstance?
I'm still anxiously awaiting my background. But I'm also doing research and writing for a group working on US national security reform. Big stuff! But it's a short-term contract so I'll be back applying to stuff starting now. Free as a bird come September!
And I work at a specialty running store as a sales associate and pace group leader for the store's fun runs. My coworkers are a blast, I get paid to work out, and I get a discount on all my gear. Also, I've managed to score some free shoes!

I learn!
I'm still a high school student, but only for one more year! :D
I have a part time job, though. I work as a barista in a little local coffee shop.

I've just done some technology consulting here and there since I graduated in December. when I get back in August from my latest trip I've been thinking of going back to school to get a degree in Exercise Science so I can become a personal trainer. I'm in the gym all the time as it is and they make good money, so why not. Not to mention there's a big need in London for personal trainers and I'd love to live there. Probably going to get my bartending license when I get back too.

well, first and foremost, i'm the mother of two little girls, ages 4 and 3.
i'm currently doing my bachelor of science in nursing to become a registered nurse here in eastern canada. i work as a student nurse in a long term care facility with mostly elderly residents.
my husband does the exact same thing as me (same school program, same job, same company).

Well, after a long absence of not doing much music-industry related, I have a job managing an artist's tour this fall. Should be fun, since it's a job that will provide me travel opportunities.

Since my last post in January 2007 - I've dropped the 'full-time student' part, and switched to 'full-time' blowing things up (or making things stop working for a living)
It's a blast....

take it from the daughter of a nurse, the pay is only good if you find the right job and have been there long enough. most nurses (LPNs and RNs alike) who are fresh out of nursing school have it rough for awhile. LPNs don't make nearly as much, and my mom is an RN but only has her associate's degree... if she went back and got her BA of nursing, she'd make another 2 dollars on the hour at her hospital. then there's all sorts of certifications where you can make more money, yada yada yada.
but like any other career where you're at long term, you gotta work up the totem pole before you enjoy the cash-money. shoot my mom is the ICU/critical care floor supervisor now, and she's been with them like 9 years, and just last year did she get 3 weeks vacay per year... usually it's only 2 weeks a year!!

sounds like EOD lol
anyhoo since MY last post, I was working in Afghanistan for the big man, as an analyst, doing some very cool stuff.
still with division at bragg as an analyst (aka paper pushing people's security clearances), got promoted a few times, but leaving in August to be a full time student at THE ohio state university as a huge poly sci nerd like I used to be. doing ROTC, going to be a cad-idiot...I mean, CADET. hoping to continue onto grad school before going back in as an L-T.
while as a student I'm also working for part-time shit in Columbus... I would really like to work at the Barnes & Noble at Easton because I shop more at that store than any store in the world and also it's 5 minutes from where I am living. but if not, I'll have to suck it up and look elsewhere.

Better money from tips? I always figured it would be a pain in the ass getting to/from work at an airport, but I guess you also have business travelers who aren't paying their shit laying out some nice tips. I know when I was traveling for my company before I got laid off my tips were like 30%!

I am starting school in november at the culinary institute of america, we'll see where that takes me, hopefully all over, people eat in other countries right? other then that i write random articles and stuff, play music, run trivia nights, do whatever people want me to do, if the money is there. although at the moment i am unemployed due to a recent surgical procedure on my shoulder, which will hopefully be better by the time i get to school

I'm a grad student in Environmental Science. It's a great "job" but very hard to be poor after working full time for a few years!
