Holy Shite....Really after a year and a half at my place of employment I am really beginning to understand that booze and co-workers don't mix! i went to a hospitality party with my co-workers three nights ago that had FREE drinks for three hours. oh my goodness. So of course i drank like a fish...Three bars and three co-workers apartments later I ended up home at 6:30am (ahem..) So yup EVERYONE at work is so not letting me live it down. I am so the butt of endless jokes. Thank god half the night I have blocked out.
So my questions to you....What's the worst way that you've embarrased yourself at work parties? Am I the only one who is really thinking about not going to the xmas party this year!?
Excuse me while I go detox...

Doing stupid stuff is expected. I had to video tape the workers party one year because the boss was sick, but I became one with the camera and it was just a video of me drinking all his drink then puking out the top window and getting it all down the side of the house. Then I went out the back and got sick on his cat but I managed to blame that on someone else.

I had an intern that worked for me a few years ago completely embarass herself at the Company christmas party. She got completely wasted, was hitting on every guy in sight (luckily I was spoken for at the time and so didn't pull a Clinton). She went to an after party, finally started making out with a guy from another department and ended up going home with him. However, she left a shoe at the after party. The guy who hosted the after party brought the shoe into work and kept it in his office. He wanted her to come down and claim it - he wouldn't bring it to her. She was completely mortified the next week and never claimed her shoe.

Haha, bad Cinderella!!
The only partying I've done with co-workers has been pretty tame (for my part), and considering the people I work with now, I'm going to stick to that.

Advice: always count the number of drinks you have when at a company or family gathering and eat a big meal before you go. My limit is 3 drinks per hour.

haha, big meal or no, three drinks per hour would do me in!
There are several people on this site who have oh-so-nicely taken care of me when I've had way less than that to drink (depending on the number of hours).

In my third year of Marketing we had a Christmas semi-formal party, and since I was finally 19 and able to drink with everyone I got wasted, even though I was one of the organizers and was supposed to be making sure other people didn't get too drunk. Among the extremely embarassing things I did was knock over a Christmas tree, fall out of my chair while speaking with my sales teacher (he saw everything up my dress!), and have a boob pop out of my dress without even realizing it. I was the only person kicked out of the party...but I got my friend to distract the bouncer and I ran back in, and partied some more before passing out in the bathroom. It was so hard to go back to school the next week, and especially hard to talk to my teacher again after he saw my thong!

I went to a work Christmas party with my husband last year. It was a very form event; country club, servers walking around keeping your wine full, open premium bar etc. Oh my gosh, by the end of the night - I was keeping myself sober(ish) because, well, I didn't want to embarass myself, but watching everyone else was quite funny (I'm not making this any better, am I?). Apparently though, it was pretty tame to some other ones that went into the wee hours (I think they started cutting it off at 11 due to some near riot like behavior).

Ehh.. my work parties are all about getting completely sloshed and not regretting anything the next day. It's pretty good when almost everyone gets that trashed. In fact, we have a tendency not to trust people that don't drink.

um id worked at my day care (my present job) for about 2 weeks maybe when they had the first party...i wore a cute lil hippy style dress and no undies...smart right? ugh
anyways...i drank liquor which i dont usually do...and i was horrible....like one girl started flashing so i thought it was a good idea too....so i flashed everyone at my work..idiot....and then...to make it easier...purposely ripped the straps off my dress so i could flash more easily
i also relieved myself in my coworkers yard...
they still make fun of me to this day, a year and a ½ later...theres windows between each classroom and theyll go up to the window and pretend to flash me...its horrible...but funny
**it is also important to point out that the only ppl at this party were female coworkers, 2 of their b/fs, and a gay guy** (who the hell was i trying to impress?? no clue)

haha Thanks guys. Love hearing your stories because then i don't feel like such a total goof..I'm sure I won't live this down until this years xmas party. So I have three months of being 'the sloshed girl', then someone else will take my reign.

I have a general distrust of tea-totalers as well, Omid
Being that I'm in the hospitality business, drinking with coworkers is a common occurrence. Getting totally shithoused with them is even more common
It all boils down to seeing how much Resurrection Ale you can pump into yourself in the shortest amount of time. Let's just say that it has a similar effect as Gran Marnier...

Yes, getting shitfaced with other hospitality industry people does seem to be a requirement to work in the business. This is probably why so many bars here have what's called an "industry" night. You guys have those in Baltimore, Steve?
