Well the best beach in Maine is Popham in my opinion. It's like heaven...
It was in the movie: "Message in A Bottle."

Sarasota Florida: Siesta Key was my fave.

Not interested in the crowded beaches anymore. Looking for something off the beaten path.

Haha, I was at Popham two days ago and it took 30 seconds to transition from cloudy skies to flat-out downpour that seriously hurt to be in. And chilly! Not so heavenly. I still love that place though, it's beautiful when it's not lashing rain.

The best beach bummery I've had so far was at the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia. Beautiful beautiful place, first time snorkelling with turtles and sharks - quite an experience!

Right now I'm excited to hit up the ocean in Borneo where I'm headed in a week. Kapalai, the dive resort I'll be scubaing at looks like heaven to me. :D

Being from OZ i think i'm slightly spoiled when it comes to beaches. I actually never really understood how nice our beaches were until i did some travelling around other countries.....now i know why people are always on about our coast line. Pretty much anywhere on any part of the coast of Oz has bloody beautiful beaches, some that come to mind are - Byron Bay and Surfers Paradise (touristy and crowded, but very nice).

One of the most spectacular coast lines i have ever seen was in Tulum in Mexico. There wasn't any surf, and most of the 3km span of coast i walked up was rock, but the water was spectacularly crystal clear and there were small reefs everywhere teaming with life....it was awsome. Caye Cualker, a little island off Belize, also had beautiful crystal clear WARM water with some freakin spectacular reefs not too far off shore.

One of the more dissappointing beaches i have been to is Copacabana beach in Rio, Brazil - the most famous beach in the world. The inhabitants that lay on the sand of the beach are bloody spectacular, but the beach itself is not that great. I was expecting more.

Honestly as a surfer I have to say Parguita used to be killer but has too many touriss going at it and it's a pain in the but, well and as far as I know no other beach can beat my lovely Playa El Yaque for a windsurfer. I'm thinking of hitting Costa Rica sometime soon, I'm the type of person that loves going to a nice beach with friends when sunny have some breezes with the sun in our horizon and the waves the scenery, but I also enjoy being alone with my heart crew in a gloomy misty evening catching the waves. Shit I'm just hoping to move my arse out of CT to hit my fave spots, Most likely I'll go visit my brother ( DJ Fallen Angel) in Florida hit Daytona or the Keys for some reason I don't dig South beach as a beach spot cause I tend to be there alot and for me it's all about Ocean Drive. but we have found some nice beaches on the roads. Oh I just remembered I have (or had) an old Jet Ski(ugly as hell with very tacky hues) in Margarita, yet it was mad fun. Now I'm nostalgic. :greenguy:

Being from central Illinois I didn't know alot about beaches until I got stationed in SoCal. I do have to say Pacific Beach in San Diego is the shiz-nit! Hang out all day on the beach, then put on some pants, shoes, and a shirt and go party with all the drunk college chicks in the million+ bars up the street. It doesn't get much better than that!
