I am pretty bummed about the recent shutdown of Couchsurfing.com ...I used the site alot and met some amazing ppl from it. I will offer an alternative if anyone want to try it. I am with another TravelWebsite travelpod and we have just developed a TravelHood which a geographical locator much like what Couchsurfing used. You can find out who is in the same place as you right now. Also you can add people to your favorites, just like the Couchsurfing friends lists.

Well, I know its not the same but I thought I would offer a little something to those who were affected by this.

Moderators, please don't nix this post...not trying to advertise but help out backpackers who used this form of travelling. After all, we are all in this together.

Couchsurfers been experiencing a few problems over the last week or so it deffinetly looked like a website falling apart, I had been recieving Emails over a week or two old. It's a shame to see it go though I don't know why he wouldn't start it up again he stil has contact with all the members from the look of it.

My sincere apologies. Spam was not my intention in the least. My first thought was to contact Tony but I thought being a time sensitive situation (many couchsurfers are left high and dry at the moment with no way to contact their hosts). Anyway, just wanted to help in any way even if only uniting a few stray surfers to enable them to their next destination. Go ahead and delete this post. I would suggest you create a thread "meeting place" or something of the like.

I am sorry to have offended.
