Ladies and Gentlemen...
Where are all you ppl posting from, from home or on the road?
Would be interested to know. I have images of all you travelpunkers backpacking all over the world.
You should all have a little travlelpunk logo on your backpacks, that way you could easily identify other punkers when your backpacking...
Ciao !

Cool idea! Hey TP, what about it? Can we get hats or shirts or buttons or whatever with your logo on it?
By the way, Fixx, I'm here in cold, Columbus, OH, reading about warm, faraway places...

Beautiful British Columbia! Kelowna/Winfield area nestled in the Okanagan Valley. Ahhh, little mountains. My mind ain't here though; aside from my Black Mountain fix, I've been stuck on me Ireland/England/Scotland trip, whilst desperatly trying to figure out if I can make it to Banff and Mexico before hand. Ha!, Banff. Good, old, Banff. Everbody loves Banff.

11 hour stop over probably means that you actually have about 6-7 hours of free time. After you land, it shouldn't take more than an hour to go through customs and get your bag, and you only need to be at the airport to check in 3-4 hrs (they recommend) before your plane takes off on international flights.
It'll be tough to do anything in LA in 2 hours without a rental car. From LAX it would take roughly 20-30 minutes to go to Hollywood, just to see the famous sign and see the "Avenue of the Stars." You could go to Venice Beach and check out the boardwalk or even the Santa Monica Promenade, but after driving and parking, it could only leave you with an hour to do what you have to do when you get there.

I like Santa Monica. It's a nice area to walk around, has a really cool pier, look at the ocean, chill out in a restaurant, and so on. Take a look into how much a shuttle would be, or even a cab. Or, you could be REALLY sneaky, and just jump on a hotel shuttle for one of the hotels going to Santa Monica (TP...you know of any hotels that have LAX shuttles that are in a good place to walk around?)...
worldwidemike (definitely NOT getting the TP thong...)

My flight goes thru Los angeles as well, I didn't even think about leaving the airport. Though i think i would be hard pressed for time since my stopover is only five hours. (okay not that i;'m complaining, since i hate stopovers!) but still..

In November Montreal-Australia, in December Laos-Vietnam, at the moment, Kathmandu in Nepal, but it will change in three months, unless I decide to never leave the place... I really really really like it here !
