hey tpunks,
i will be backpacking through spain in june. to start with madrid and barcelona and then malaga and granada.

can u suggest any more interesting places in spain. i heard of some salamanca. how s that??

also, if i m putting up in a hostel in spain. would i be able to get fellow backpackers join me or vice versa. as i see travelling alone in a "less" english speaking country can be a problem. anyone in spain in june??

how much money is roughly required for a 3 week trip in spain? just a rough estimate.

There are tons of places to see in Spain, Sevilla, San Sebastian, Segovia & toledo (just outside madrid), Almeria's beautiful along the coast... etc etc

As for "how much" it costs, it can vary incredibly. With a Eurail pass I'd ballpark between...750 euros (being relatively cautious with your money) and 1000-1250 euros...

that was quick ! also, when travelling within spain, you think rail pass will be good idea. how long does it take to get one anyways ?

what about hostel bookings ? u think i should book before leaving ? is yes then that can restrict my stay . right ?

I'm told Pamplona is nice and that the beachs in San Sebastian are beautiful. Vitoria Gastiez is a nice town in the hills and Santander is nice.

The sandstone architecture of Salamanca is delightful and I highly recommend it. As it is a university city there is many young students and cheap drinking holes around too.

I'm not sure that a rail pass will be too beneficial in Spain as train tickets seemed well priced relative to the rest of Europe. You may want to investigate point to point tickets before purchasing a rail pass.

As for accomodation I would recommend booking for the popular cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and San Sebastion.
