Not being too smart, i started a 3 week trip around portugal, spain and france without having a way back to England. Turns out, everything is rediculously expensive this weekend so I'm a bit screwed for flying or trains.

I'm currently in Chamonix, France and I'm gettin the boot from the hostel on Friday morning. I figure I might be able to hitch hike to Paris, then catch a bus to London. I'm looking up alternatives right now but I'm being charged out the ass for internet use. So, if any of you have any ideas or know of anything I could do, that'd be great.

Thanks a lot!

Yeah, I guess hitching is your best alternative. Is there any way you could stay a bit longer and make some money somewhere so that you wont have to end up sleeping on the streets? Or is your flight back pretty close...

Hitch-hiking, while not quite as scary a prospect in Europe as it is here, is still not recommended. Is the hostel totally booked for the weekend and that's why they want you out? Ask the front desk people about a cheap way to get to Paris. There may be buses that don't cost too much.

Is there anyone at home who can wire you some cash?? Good luck!

You could try busking/begging, you could hitchhike as far as you can get, you could try Bug Europe and see if there's a matching or close ride, or you can contact someone back home and see if they can Western Union you money! Good luck.

If you were absoloutely desperate, you could get someone at home to wire you some cash (Western Union). This was a life saver for me when I lost my wallett and credit card.

Are there any jobs you could do at the hostel?? Then again, if they're threatening to kick you out, they probably wouldn't consider letting you help them in any way for a few quid.

I've never done it myself, but there are a few grape-picking type jobs around France. Maybe if you got on the net, checked it out, you could earn a little bit just to get you home.

But if you DO wanna hitchike...hang around at the petrol stations...start chattin' to some folk while they're stuck fillin' the car...

Whatever you do, don't panic.
