hello everyone, i'm very very new to this message board (seeing as this is my first post ever), and i have a simple question to ask.

how much, on average, is a train ticket from city to city in Germany? (return and/or one way). I'll be staying in Germany for a few days, and would like to get around, and am having some trouble finding train ticket prices (all i can seem to find is the obvious Eurail or Eurail Germany passes).

any help would be awesome!

thanks

The Happy Weekend Tickets are a super deal. For up to 5 persons, 32 Euros (for the ticket only), it takes you anywhere you want in the country. But it is with slow trains, second class, and on Saturdays and Sundays. Click here.

There are also Night Train special offers. 19 Euros for national and international destinations. Valid until mid February. Check this.

The Happy Weekend tix are also good on U and S Bahns in the cities, and on buses so they are a great deal. There are also tagescartes (day-passes) for use after 9 or 9:30 which are a good deal. Otherwise, it can get pretty expensive. Compare: a day trip to Koln (Cologne) from our little town in the same region, about 2 1/2 hours each way, regularly costs 74 Euros, but with the Happy Weekend fare cost 30 - inclusive for all 6 of us.

The Die Bahn site (I type in Die Bahn in Google) sometimes gives fares, but not always. Big cities point to point it should have. If you have a youth or student ID you should qualify for a somewhat reduced fare.

Good luck!
