My boyfriend are I are planning on taking a one month or so trip to Europe this summer... Amsterdam is going to be one of the first places we visit. I was wondering, how tolerant of weed is the rest of Europe? If we bought something extra in Amsterdam, and carried it for the rest of the trip, would be certainly be arrested, or do people not care? I had a friend who went to England for the semester, and she said they were liberal about it... also, do you have to go through customs of any sorts when traveling between different countries, or does the EU thing take care of that?

I'm going to save you alot of trouble...please bring your common sence with you when you leave your home town. Don't leave it behind or you'll find yourself in heaps of trouble. Just pretend all the laws that bind you in your home town will follow you in Europe and you'll have a great time.
You only have to go through customs if you leave/enter a country that is not a part of the European Union...atleast that was my expeirence.
In short;
DON'T CARRY WEED OUTSIDE OF AMSTERDAM!
And if anyone here seems to think otherwise

so true!!
i brought some to paris by mistake (not of sound mind at the time), got extremly lucky that nothing happened. i found out later that france is very strict against it and ocationaly the sorrounding contries search people coming from amsterdam. have fun while your there but leave it all behind. just take a lot of pictures so you can remember the city.

Hey no worries!! We're just looking out for ya! I wouldn't want to read in the newspaper that a backpacker had been tossed in prison for drug smuggling!
And Welcome to the Boards!!!

From my experience crossing the Dutch/German border many times, don't carry anything by train. I used to do it in a personal car in small amounts, but don't try it with public transportation.

I have had three aquaintances get busted for bringing drugs back from Amsterdam over the border into Germany. One by personal car, two by train. The Polizei are not very forgiving when it comes to drug trafficking.
Before you leave Amsterdam, check yourself over very well... make sure nothing inadvertantly got dropped or left in your personal bags by mistake.
