rick steves wants people to check out the route of the white villages in andalucia.
it looks like nobody is touring that area.
has anyone been there?

I was nearby but didn't go and I really regret it.

I have heard wonderful things about this area!!! So I would say go for it, although some of these small villages will be a little harder to get to.

I was supposed to go this summer for 5 weeks(i had it all planned out and everything) until i realized that i've been reading my ank balence wrong

haha, but rick steves is sort of notorious for saying that. there was this one street in paris that he recommended it for "culture" and it was flocked with so many tourists that it's now called "Rue de Rick Steves" haha thought that funny though.

All I know is that he got me to go to the Cinque Terre and I will NEVER regret it.

On the same note, I was supposed to go to Arcos and Rhonda but an unfortunate split w/ my travel partner kept me from going. Other than that, I've had good experiences with his suggestions.....tho I never made it to Rue Clare in Paris.

As far as I could tell, not much. I wandered by there one day by accident, it was a nasty, rainy sunday afternoon and everything was pretty much closed up. Hey wait, now that I think about it, that was my birthday, lol. It's a nice area, but it looks just like a lot of other parts of Paris, lol. I think when Rick Steves "discovered" it way back when it was a nice little non-touristed neighborhood street. It probably still is in the off season. There's an outdoor market on the weekends, I think. It's "Rue Cler" if anyone wants to check it out.

Not sure what the route is...I've been to a couple of the small mountain towns in the Alpujarras, south of Granada. Is that the route or is it somethinge else?
