Men and Women of Tp

Can anyone lend me some info regarding some not too hardcore hiking trails (preferably day hikes) in switzerland around the alps.

Even if anyone knows that from any of the major hostels can you get hiking maps. Would love to walk up to the top of a mountain just to check out the view and grab a photo of me on top of the world.

Any suggestions?
Leeroy

man, ozpacka - i can't wait to get back to switzerland! if i were you, i'd head straight for the bernese oberland. there are so many nice mountain villages to explore and nice valleys as well. the lauterbrunnen valley is one place i plan to visit, also some village outside of grindelwald. you can enjoy the trails here all year round. they're super well maintained and have varying degrees of difficulty.

I believe that Thun is the amsterdam of switzerland... You'll find what your looking for there they say.

I could be wrong but.

Thanks

I've never been to switzerland, but I've heard from somone before that Meiringen is quite good. And, Grindelwald and Zermatt are ment to be good too. But I really have no personal idea. Just what I've been told. :)

I've never been in Switzerland but I have friends who lives there and they told me that Gimmelwald, Gryon, Interlaken and Zermatt are good places and you can find what you need. They are very small cities but the scenery is wonderful.

Switzerland is one of the main reasons that made me want to go to Europe. It just looks like the coolest country. The Jungfrau/Interlaken region is where I plan on going. They have small towns in the mountains through that area and hiking trails going over the mountains between them. This is the place I want to stay at in Gimmelwald. Just look at the pictures.

i've always planned on staying in gimmelwald too (damn rick steeves videos!), but i'm keeping my eyes and ears out for any less spoilt spots as well. gruyere on the other side of the mountain range looks like a nice place to visit too.

of all the athletes in the world, mountain climbers impress me most - there's lot's of literature out there regarding the jungfrau region, one really, really great book i read is called: eiger - wall of death. i highly recommend it to anyone planning to vist the area!
