Default Fun things to do for a 19 year old...

Hey all!
I'm currently planning to backpack Europe for a month (June - middle of July) and I'm looking for some generally fun things for an adventure-seeking 19 year old to do. I have been looking on a lot of the travel websites such as TravelAdvisor to find things to do on my trip, but a lot of them seem geared to older people. I am considering traveling to some of the following cities:

1. Paris, France
2. Lyon
3. Turin, Italy
4. Rome
5. Naples
6. Sorrento
7. Florence
8. Dubrovnik, Croatia
9. Split
10. Nice, France
11. Marseille
12. Barcelona, Spain
13. Pamplona (RUNNING OF THE BULLS!!)
14. Madrid

Let me know what you have done in these cities for some genuine fun!

I haven't personally been to any of these places, so I can't really help you out... However, I know that it will be a lot easier for other members to reply if you give us an idea of what you're looking for...

Do you mean those websites seemed geared towards older people because they concentrated more on historic landmarks? Or museums? Or.. spas?

Basically, what are you not looking for and what are you looking for?

Anyway, welcome to the boards!!

Dude. You're 19. It seems to me you're the perfect person to answer your own question...

Everyone's different. At 17 I backpacked Europe and I did a lot of the standard touristy things....they didn't seem "old" to me. In fact, a lot of the hostels you'll travel to cater towards just your age group. Honestly, the hostels (or the people in them...who are likely your age) in each of the towns you go to should have the best ideas of what there is to see and do around.

Oh! I also find Lonely Planet's Europe on a shoestring helpful for getting some travel advice for a "younger" crowd. A rough guide to europe seems pretty good too. I recommend getting a book or reading travel blogs. Those are the best sources for real information

Welcome to TPunk.

Running with the bulls can be a dangerous place by yourself.

I recommend doing it with a tour company. I did it with these guys and you stay at a camp site out of town and they shuttle you in.

I found Madrid to be extremely boring, I'd suggest Valencia instead.

Also there's no need to post in more than one forum here. We'll always do our best to read the first one.

Do you have a room for the San Fermin? If not then before you go to Pamplona find a weather report and bring some cash. If it is going to be cold you can use some of your cash to rent a room from some locals, there are always a few at the train station and you can usually haggle them down. If it is going to be nice then I would say just crash outside. I made the mistake of deciding to sleep outside expecting it to be warm and that night the temp dropped to about +5C and the next night it rained. Once you get there if you decide to rough it outside then check your bags at the central bus station, it is the cheapest in town. Just be sure you have everything you want out of it because you have to repay the fee even if you just want to grab a sweater or something. Also I would suggest that you buy your ticket to your next destination the same day you get there, I met a bunch of people who had to wait around an extra couple days since they couldn't get a ticket anywhere. Other than that enjoy, San Fermin is the craziest party you will ever be to. It was so much fun I plan on going back and running again.

Have fun!

go to those places, show up at a hostel and I'm 100% sure you'll find some trouble (the good kind, maybe even the bad kind just don't get caught by the local coppers)
