I'll be arriving in Cork on May 19th by airplane at night. Do you think that having the 20th to look around, go to Blarney Castle and leaving to Galway in the evening is enough?

That should be plenty of time. Buses leave Cork for Blarney about every hour - you can spend a good half-day walking around the castle and grounds, with plenty of time to leave for Galway in the evening.

how much time are you going to be spending in ireland and what are you hoping to do there?

the country is so small, travel time should be very short. last year when i was there, it took only half a day of lazy travel to drive pratically the whole country. there is no reason to ever be in a rush in ireland.

Cork is a compact town. Good pubs though! Make sure to have a pint to Murphy's, not Guinness. You can do the walking tour in the evening that includes a pint as well. I think it was 10 euro and worth it. The guide gives you all the history and the sites of Cork in about 2 hours. Your hostel should have the info about it there.

I've got yet another question... is it a good idea to rent a bike for the 10km from Cork to Blarney castle? Or should I rather take a bus?

Also, is Cobh any good? I stumbled across this little town and I'm thinking that it could be interesting to spend an afternoon there.

I would take the bus. Its a pretty hilly (for a bike anyways) and its only 5,40 E return I think. My 2 cents
