Isle of Man
I have finally got time to let everyone know what it was like for a Brit living on the Isle of Man teaching at Castle Rushen High.
I was living in Douglas the 'hub' of the Island. The IOM is a fantastic Island to visit for walks and of course the TT course. I cant say the nightlife is all that if you are in to extreme clubbing but if your their with friends you could try Outback, Colours, Paramount City and if your gay Guys n Dolls. The Isle of Man has its own currency, Manx pounds, but it will accept British Sterling. I found everything to be more expensive on the IOM but thats probably because they import everything.

I love it!! Really nice pics...
Very naïve question... but the IOM having it's own currency... is it a country? Or is it part of the UK?

Its supported by the British Crown (Armed Forces etc). Yes it is its own country has its own parliament and everything. Has a special relationship with the EU with regards to trade but pays no money to the EU or receives any. Hope this helps if not im sure Rozza might be able to help.

To bad they are protected by the British Crown? It looks like it would be an easy country to invade.

Oh, ok.. thnx for the ansswer!! I always thought it was part of the UK (sort of like N.Ireland)

Interesting. I always thought they were a British territory or something. I think I called Rozza a Brit in a previous post. Ooops. Sorry Rozza!!
