Crap. That sucks. How much is the price increase, on average? I've never travelled during a popular holiday or event (i.e. oktoberfest, world cup, easter etc...) so I don't know what kind of price increases to expect if I ever end up travelling during a certain event or holiday.

Oh man. Good luck!! I had a devil of a time (haha, sorry for the pun) finding a place to stay during the week leading up to Easter. That's almost all of continental Europe's school holidays. But if you're persistent you should be able to find something, you'll probably have to call around though because online availability is most likely going to be crap.

Rome during that time should be amazing though, and I'm not even Catholic!!

We're going through the same thing.

How many people are in your group? You might be better off, as we are, looking for an inexpensive hotel and sharing the cost among you.

Good luck with your search, maybe we'll see in you at St. Peter's....

A friend of mine stayed at a campground that was 15 minutes or so outside of Rome--I can't remember the name, but it was part of a major chain, so it shouldn't be too hard to Google. He was in a similar situation--bad weekend accomodation-wise and whatnot. You can usually rent a tent, I think, though that might push the price up a bit. Worth a try anyway . . . Good luck

I found a super cheap B&B for the week leading up to Easter (I'm camping out in Pompeii during Easter weekend), as I'm not particularly interested in the Jesus-fest that will be Rome that weekend. Anyway, it's located near the Vatican- I don't know if it will be available, but it's so small that it might be worth a look. It was only £23 a night, and the cheapest place that I found.

Check it.

Good luck!

There's just two of us going, Im coming from school in France and meeting a friend there who's in school in London. I saw the camp idea, it looks the cheapest of all acomodations, but that B&B looks good for about 10 EU more a night.

Have to make some decisions now
