I am planing on spending some time in Dubrovnik in June, I was wondering if anyone could recomend a good place to stay, I'd like to be near the beach and cheap but without sacrificing a decent place to stay.

If you want to stay with a local, just go to the bus station in the morning and you'll get swamped with people offering you a room. I paid €12 a night for my own room with seperate shower and entrance in an old ladies house, it was only a minutes walk from the old town as well. I believe there are some hostels in Dubrovnik but I decided to go at the last minute and they were all booked up.

i was just there in January. i stayed across the street from the bus station in room offered by a lady at the bus station. it was the low season so i am sure you will not have aproblem in summer. it would be best to stay in the city, cause you don't want to walk up the hill to the center everyday but there local buses.
