Lookin for Athens, Greece info.
So I am hunting for info on public transportation from the Athens airport into the city. Preferably the Plaka district, but get me close and I am happy. We will be staying in Excharian Square area. We are in transit through Athens and only have a day and a half. Trying to use our time wisely. I hate wasting money on cabs, but know nothing of buses or trains/metro in Athens. Any suggestions or first hand knowledge would be sweeeet.

I'm pretty sure you had to purchase the bus tickets at the kiosks insted of at the bus. But that's as much as I can remember.
If you wanna take a taxi people there pretty much just yell out "TAXI!" and the taxi stops (instead of sticking your arm out).
That's my 2 cents.

There is a bus that runs between the airport and the city centre (Syntagma Square), from where you can get the metro to whever your want to go. I forget the bus number, but it's pretty regular.

Perfect, once you told me syntagma sq. I was able to find that Line E95 connects from the airport and line E94 connects to the airport from syntagma sq. with a couple stops along the way.
Thanks ajb We are staying in Athens just for 1 1/2 days, so I haven't done my research here yet. Shame we won't have more time, but thats how the connections are going. Thinking we are just going to spend the day at the acropolis and checking out the Plaka. Any other suggestions. I feel I have to atleast go and see the Acropolis.

Stuff in Athens.
Hey Marc,
Athens is walkable. I wouldn't trust the cabs at all from what a local said.
I liked The Roman Forum. It was thrilling to stand there and look at the view. There's not a lot left, but there's information about the buildings that stood there. The museum of History is great I've heard.
Try the espresso shakes they're very good.
BOSS.
