Český Krumlov, getting there...

I was wondering, who here has been to Český Krumlov and how did you get there? Cause I thought it would be half way between Salzburg and Prague and I thought I might get to spend the day there and then catch a train to Prague, but apparently the train goes: Salzburg - Linz - Summerau - Ceské Budejovice - Prague. Any thoughts on how I can pop around Český Krumlov just for the day?

Might find some tips here.

I know that I had to connect in ceske budejovice. there wasn't much info around either, we ended up getting stuck in ceske budejovice for an evening and catching a really late train to krumlov. we then had to walk into town from the train station (this is like almost midnight now), and sleep in a park because the hostels were closed by then. there are also buses going to krumlov but couldn't quite figure out the schedule and i think we got to the bus station like 10 mins after the last one had left. sorry, not much help, but i know we had a little trouble getting there from vienna.

I caught the bus from Prague to Ceské Budejovice then another bus to Český Krumlov. It was cheap but slow going and the bus wasn't air conditioned.

Český Krumlov is such a peaceful little town and it is worth lingering more than a day. Rafting down the river is really cool too!

I got the bus from Prague to Cesky I didn't have to find buses and times though I met an Argentinian girl who had already done all the hard work and I just tagged along. I wouldn't get the bus again though it was packed and we had to spend most the time standing.

I got the train out of the Cesky, the whole thing is a blur though I can't remember details all I know is I ended up in Vienna and I had a seat.

A bus from Pilzen

i caught a bus from Loket a small town in the Czech, it went through Pilzn then it went to Krumlov. It was a little bit confusing but not that difficult, nobody spoke English but made it without trouble. i heard it was even easier from Prague or Cesky Brudijovice.

One more thing, not just one day

it is easier to get there from Vienna. if you go to Wombats in vienna they will easily get you to Kramlov. But please do not make it a day trip. I planned to stay there 2 days and ended up staying 2 weeks. it is an amzing town. try the Gambrinus

Yeah, Cesky Krumlov really deserves more than a day. I thought it was so ridiculous that people were popping there for a day trip from Prague and then going back that night, to their more expensive hostels! It is cheaper in Cesky Krumlov! And that is only one reason to stay for longer. It is ridiculously beautiful there. And peaceful. I enjoyed just doing nothing for a few days. I mean, you CAN see it all in a day, but you can see MORE with more time.

I spent a week in cesky, I didn't mean to I just couldn't find the bus stop. The locals are mad it reminded me of home. Eventually I got the train which is allot easier with only one stop.

We also took the bus to Cesky Krumlov from Prague. Some of the metro stations have offices that will sell bus tickets and will tell you what time. I can't remember the name of it though, but anyone at the metro information offices will know!
