Huh, I just googled it and the national sports are Ice Hockey and Lacrosse. I had thought maybe curling would make an appearance in there somewhere...

Actually the national sport is Lacrosse.
I'm not sure about other people but when I was in Europe since I was being polite everyone assumed I was Canadian and any polite Americans were also assumed to be Canadian. Anyone being an asshole though and everyone just assumed they were American.

You know it baby, fastest game on two feet. The Canadian style of indoor box lacrosse is straight up brutal.

^ I stand corrected, but that is wack. Hockey is still the national sport, as far as i'm concerned, although I must say, I've only played floor hockey and cannot do a power-stop on ice to save my life

If you play Lacrosse it is a lot like hockey I think. No skates and you get to carry they ball but it is fast, brutal, incredibly painful and a hell of a lot of fun.

Good job noting the date of admission. When I was little, it was just lacrosse, though of course I grew up watching Hockey Night in Canada like everyone else. I always had to ask my dad if we were cheering for the black team or the white team. Black and white TV. Check it out at the museum. That's how old I am!
Why don't we have Lacrosse Night in Canada?

In general, i have not had any crazy problems being an American. But there are people, often drunk people, who will decide to tell you why they hate america. BUT, Obama has seriously made most of these people happy! I swear, everyone I have had a conversation with since he has been elected has asked about him, and what I thought about him. They love him! I'm so glad that at least we have made the Europeans respect us slightly more than when the Bush Administration was having their way with the Gov't.
